Yeah, that’s the problem.

reading about a lot of knife attacks in Vangroovy which always makes me wonder how many of those would have been mass shootings in America ?
Make all AR style semi autos subject to National Firearms Act of 1934 (as amended by Gun Control Act of 1968)
https://www.atf.gov/rules-and-regula...l-firearms-act
It’s been well litigated so the addition of certain weapons shouldn’t have an impact.
And it doesn’t bar ownership of weapons subject to the act - I know someone with a Thompson sub machine gun - but there’s a high standard for ownership/stewardship of the weapon.
Legally this is not true. If there is a significant size difference with the attacker being larger, if the attacker has a knife, the victim is elderly or a small woman, if there are multiple attackers. All these things can give legal justification for the use of deadly force in self defense.
You're right, I manipulated the stats like you guys do. School shooting deaths averaged out over the past 10 or 20 years really don't seem as alarming as they do for the past few years. There is an absolutely alarming trend.
Again, we could talk about what is changing in our society, because guns have been around since long before then. The rate of mass shootings in schools have risen in correlation to the rise of children of single mothers coming of age, for one.
And if that doesnt work, then just confiscate them all right? Seriously, thats your end goal, correct?
You're more likely to be beaten to death with bare hands or feet than you are to get shot to death with a semi auto rifle. https://www.statista.com/statistics/...y-weapon-used/
Even if you'd like to live in a society without any guns, would you really like to live in a society where the cops and atf go door to door taking them from people? Serious question, i'd like to know.
children of single mothers, lol. were you dropped a lot as a child?
just because it is worse now doesn’t mean we shouldn’t have done something after sandy hook 2013(?), columbine 1999(?), newtown 2014 (?), or virginia tech. but we had dumbasses saying stupid shit then as well.
you’ve earned a GFYYFM, enjoy!
Of course, you get a new gun, you got a try it out, right?

RE: "what is changing in our society?"
The answer is ease of access.
Tip it on its side, and this chart looks a lot like the school shooting chart I posted earlier.

edit: gotta be fast around here... Peruvian beat me to the punch!
“children of single mothers coming of age” being a uniquely American problem…yeah that explains it
I'm not disagreeing that reducing access to semiautomatic rifles would improve safety; the data we have particularly when considering countries that drastically increased restrictions in recent years.
However, do we have any data at all about correlation between total firearms in circulation versus households with at least one? Anecdotally it seems like a lot (obviously not all) of recent sales are going to people collecting multiple firearms vs households that were previously gun-free.
A lot of those multiple firearms are disappearing from households (and their cars).
Estimated 200,000 to 500,000 annually:

Vast majority seem to go unreported. I assume that makes tracking household data a bit difficult.
This right here is the #1 problem with way too many guns. Anyone, ANYONE who wants a gun can get one pretty quickly by just walking around the neighborhood jiggling car door handles. Within an hour they'll have one. The "good guys" don't report it because they fear telling the cops they left a weapon in an unlocked vehicle or garage because they don't want to risk losing their carry/buy permit. So, they just eat it and go buy more guns. That's why we're all getting shot at by criminals out there..

no charges? parents can keep the guns?
^ The problem was the 1 year old didn’t have a gun. Maybe the 7 year old as well.
It’s the people, not the guns.
It's the pussies.
Legally it should be true. There are plenty of other less lethal weapons and tactics besides judge, jury, and executioner for someone physically outmatched to defend themselves in most situations.
Get rid of the handguns, all of them non military or LEO, and deaths will go way down.
Kid shoots his brother with unsecured firearm.
Texas: Shit happens. Personal responsibility.
Also Texas: Let’s pass laws that prevent other people from making their own decisions & living their best lives (abortion & gender affirming care, etc).
the entire GOP is so in on “enforcing gun laws”, well, we’re waiting.
