I haven’t been out to the Olympics yet but there’s still a fair bit of snow above 5500-6000’ in the Cascades and I would expect more in the Olympics. With the forecast of continued cool temperatures the snow isn’t going to melt out in the next couple weeks

Based on my travels this week around Hurricane Ridge, I would imagine the High Divide will be mostly snow free end of June. I've done the loop late June in the past and there was a cruxy steep snow section on the ridge north of Bogachiel Peak towards the Lunch Lake junction. If you are a ski mountaineer its no problem but if you have less experienced friends or family with you it would be an issue. You can avoid the potential for exposed steep snow by taking the Lunch Lake trails and avoiding Bogachiel Peak altogether.Quote:

Unfortunately the wind today kept the upper mountain from softening so there was only a smaller stretch of corn before the schmoo of doom
I just got a new job and unexpectedly have the next few weeks free. Does anybody have a copy of Matt Gunn's Scrambles in Southwest BC guidebook I could buy or rent/borrow? I'm based in Seattle right now, happy to pay for postage. Never even been to Canada so this seems like a good time to do it. Is there anything that is still skiable up there? Also planning on in skiing here in WA next week if anyone wants to join.
Got a sweet lap on the White Salmon on the 4th. It was the fattest I've ever seen it, in what what was a pretty terrible snow year. Go figure. Seems like 1 PM is about perfect to drop off the summit. Asking for a favor from the PNW crowd: has anyone successfully dealt with the Rehabilitation process with Canada after being refused entry? I'm looking to be steered to legal help in order to be able to get this taken care of.
I had a trip to Baldface planned for this past winter and had crossed several times in previous years, although not in the last 3-4. At the border I was asked to park and come inside where it was explained to me that a Reckless Driving from 13 years ago amounts to a felony driving charge in Canada and therefore I was being denied admission.
The only path forward at this point in Rehabilitation: is there anyone in here who has personally dealt with the process and can point me in a direction? I've looked into the details and feel like legal representation might be the best option. Thanks!

Success point was out ages ago. I think the best snow left is probably on the Russell, maybe the Emmons below the sketchy crevasses
2 yrs ago about this time I was working w a young hungry splitter. Him and his buddy rallied from Bozeman to ski Rainier. They were thwarted by heavy crevasses skied some ok pitches and lots of terrible conditions. I was stoked for them gave him a few things. At the same time i was like wtf. Not a great time to try but whatever.
Thanks for he beta. I thought anything with snow would also have crevasses. Not worth the drive from BC. Let's hope for some September turns.
