Yeah, but a multi-role BMT 122 that was a little longer, a little heavier and a little stiffer....is starting to make me a little stiffer.

Somewhat late reply - the bmt94 is one ski that I would definitely buy and probably buy multiple of. Full subtle rocker at 94 underfoot is incredibly versatile- ripped some big lines and skied terrible snow competently on those things. The layup is absolutely essential to why that ski worked, though. I was super stoked to see sterbenz/ wndr alpine make that shape, but they didn’t make it light…
On the 122 (which I tour on whenever there’s fresh and are starting to fall apart on me after 6 years) - isn’t the chipotle banana pretty close to an inbounds 122? Again the layup is what makes this a killer touring ski, really don’t think the qualities that make it exceptional will translate into a heavy layup. I love it cus you can noodle it OR lay down huge tracks in the alpine - not gonna work w a different flex pattern. Or if it does I’d be very interested!!
Fwiw current plan to replace the 122 is a carbon protest. Not the same big face ability but probs more fun in below treeline

A good description of where this ski I envision ended up:
- Width and rocker profile of a Rustler “12”
- Taper/shorter effective edge of a Spur
- Weight of a Spur
- Sidecut radius between a Rustler and Spur
(That’s where I seem to have ended up, even though I didn’t start with that as my intention.)
Goal is a ski with that has notably more float and is looser than an R11, with enough weight that it won’t fall apart in soft chop, and not total shit on a groomer back to the lift.
Maybe what I've got rolling around in the back of my mind is a VW Katana that's 122 under foot. And yeah, BMT 94's are awesome. 94's are significantly stiffer than my BMT 109's and, surprise surprise, have a very similar flex and rocker as a VW Katana. I was shocked how similar they were when I put them up along side a pair of 191 VWK's. There really is some magic in that BMT-V Werks family
Peak 110

GTFO. No.
Edit: To actually provide a helpful response in case you are in any way serious and not just FKN with me -
Peak 100 has much longer running length and less taper than what I envision.

And it’s only a 110, not 120+
Going in the wrong direction from an R11.
Not completely dissimilar, but different enough?
- MF has significantly longer running length, less rocker, more like a Rustler 9
- MF has a fair bit less tip/tail splay
- MF has a lot of camber, 10mm. If anything, I’d be inclined to go less rather than more than the 4mm I’ve drawn up
- MF has significantly shorter radius, ~21m
- MF has -10cm mount vs. -8cm
- MF is only a ‘half step’ up from an R11 in terms of width.
To me the M Free sounds like a Black Ops 118 for a more directional skier? More chop destroyer, but less floaty/loose/smeary than I’m envisioning?
Edit: With the short effective edge/aggressive taper it seems like the M Free is loose one it gets up to speed, but I’m looking for something that floats and stays loose at more moderate speeds/mellower terrain/very deep days. Not picturing this being a ‘pro model’ type ski.
yeah this ^^ exactly, I was worried about riding the Lotus 120 in 184 but it was so easy/ loved it so much I bought another pair in 190 and in spite of being the next size longer than I normaly ride ... no problem. Just crank em sideways to turn depending on what kind of turn you want but they do turn, folks should not be afraid of that advertised big radius #
everyone should have a pair or 2
Awesome.

The French could almost be trusted to call it le Sick.

This peaks my interest as well. Could slot very well in the DD slot for me.
I'm super curious about what kind of construction you are going to use. Part of the charm of the Sickle is all the rubber, I haven't found a ski that replicates that feel yet (though I just bought some MFree 108s and am excited to compare them).
I saw in gear swap you sold your BMT 94's.. is there a ski like that in the pipeline?
As a quick cross-post, the Carbon and Freeride skis are all supposed to deliver to me today, and I will be pushing skis out as fast and hard as possible, with the goal of getting all pre-ordered skis from this cohort shipped this week and monday.
The Comp-build Raceroom metal skis are entering production in 2 weeks, shipping to me approx Feb 18-20, and should be shipping out from em to you in the Feb 25-28 window. More to come on this as I get more details! I am super excited for these, and know they are really going to be worth the wait!
Yes please!! That C110 appears to be exactly what I'm looking for....

2023 PREVIEW
Along with re-pressing just about all the 2022 models, Heritage Lab has heard the feedback from our skiers, and will be adding 3 models for next season. A reverse camber 110mm 186cm ski built around a -6mm waist, a directional 105mm daily driver, and a progressive 90mm wide bc-specific shape designed for wild snow. Details to follow next week. But for now, here is a look at the art:
I'll definitely be in for a C90

110 reverse sounds great.
Loving the FR options. Drake created so many cool shapes but was so hooked on carbon and lively. Which is great for touring but sucks getting back to the lift.
Congrats Marshall. Happy for you. And also for the riders.
Can’t wait to hear more about the new models!

Damn, they deserve a slot in the 23/24 gear thread...
I'm waiting with baited breath for my R99 Comp build skis to arrive, but I'm already starting to drool over these new shapes.
I know more info will come in the next few weeks on the new shapes, but for those with time on Sickles can you please fill me in on how they ski? Where do they excel? My quiver is getting filled with fast chargers (R99, and Bodacious) and I would like to branch out to something ~110 waist that can be a fun DD at lower speeds. My 4 y/o is starting lessons this year, and I want a ski that will allow me to ski forwards and backwards with her while chasing her through trees and the little drainages kids love to explore. I'm starting to debate Jeff110's and these and would love some input by those with time on one and/or both.
Thanks!
Fuck yeah. Will be ordering some C90's in the fall as long as the mount isn't too progressive. Really want a C132 as well...
