Do you do this in races? I saw a couple people swap yesterday in the middle of a 30 mile race, and it looked like they all got dropped, but hard to say for sure. I wonder if Zwift insider has timed and tested this strategy at some point.

It’s been proven that the MTB is the fastest in the jungle. No need to waste drops on a gravel rig. I was punishing another (B) cat guy from France on the MTB while he was on a road bike. He could hang and pull hard going up, but going down I was putting 3-5 seconds on him with a medium effort.
I do not change during a race. Can't see how it would be faster. In fact in the fast pavement-only group ride I was doing last week I started with a gravel bike accidentally and stopped after 30 mins to switch out and was never able to reconnect with the lead group despite going noticeably faster with the road bike.
There are videos on YouTube about faster ways to switch bikes. Something about hitting the "A" key while riding takes you into the device pairing screen which allows you to switch bikes in half the time vs hitting brakes/coasting and stopping the normal way.
Pretty sure you still have to stop to change frames regardless, also running Zwfit from my iphone projected to TV so no shortcuts for me. I'm still just going to be annoyed at this whole thing regardless, even if all the suggestions are valid and have done the swap for Jungle before. /curmudgeon
With a PC:
A is pairing screen
T is garage.
I’m on AppleTV so I didn’t pay to much attention to an article o read about mid-ride switches, but I kinda remember that before the ride you go to the garage, go to the bike section, hover over the next bike you want to switch to, then exit out of the garage.
When you switch to the garage mid ride, it’s on the bike screen and hovering over the bike you want, just accept it and exit back to riding.
YMMV
Ride this morning resulted in finally blowing through the casing on my trainer tire after 3 years. Whoops... I guess that is a good estimated life on the trainer tires.
6 riders on the Tuesday TGR meetup.

I'll be back...
Completely forgot about this ride until after I did an afternoon ride.
However, I did do a bunch of reading on the pacer bot and gaining extra points (good for new to Zwift riders).
I rode with the D bot, but it was painfully slow. I'm 190 and was pulling away at 140w. So I went to the desert to find the C hot, and that was a good ride. Approx 180w if I paid attention and didn't get dropped from being lazy. A good way to get extra "drops".
For extra points and levels... I was reading up on doing 25 laps of the Volcano and found out that if you use the TT bike that you don't get the feather or other specials. Instead you get extra bonus points, I think it was 250 or more. By riding multiple volcano laps you get badge bonuses for 5?, 10? And then at 25. At 25 you've also gone over 100k, so that is another badge.
Total geek out, but easily many thousand points and a few levels by going 25 laps of the volcano on a TT bike

I've done 10 laps of Volcano for the badge, not in a rush for 25 as it gets a bit mind numbing. If I ever get to it, I'll probably just put on a movie. Think the TT option adds ~250xp, but if you hopped on a group you'd likely be able to get it done faster.
Also mentioned this during Dee Hub's ride last night, but I recommend the Tour de Zwift event. Pretty fun and good challenge. Amounts to 1 ride per week through end of Feb with makeup days. Different ride length options/courses and depending on time in past years would jump around between A/B/C options based on what was available. It's a race, but also not. Even in the lower groups there will be all levels of pacing, usually found a good group to compete against or just ride along depending on the day. My fastest time of Alp de Zwift was during this using it as a race a few years ago, but have also just taken it easy too.

Sorry I missed it, I went on a real outside ride instead. Should be there thurs.
My trainer is coming on Monday... give me a week or so to get my setup dialed and some rides in and I’ll join up!

If your zwift rides are getting sent to strava there's a segment there. But the zwift segments are even more of a shit show than real life ones, so you have to get on the actual strava website instead of just the app to sort through them all and have it show the ones you want. Sticking to mostly the "zwift insider verified" segments is a good way to do it. Once you get enough rides and go through and hide the bullshit they start to be more useful.
Ahhh! Working late + no smart trainer = me no show for every maggot group ride since he first one! Gotta get a new trainer. Doing a V02 max test tomorrow to get a real training regimen figured out.
Heading outdoors for a fat session, not sure about tonight. I’ll have to see how my legs are.

I know smart trainers are in short supply these days so I figured you guys would appreciate the heads up that this model is in stock. Just do a couple extra root canals.
That was hot final lap! Woof

^ I could see the power numbers jumping up into the red, and saw a few double digits.
Great turnout with 10 riders.

If any of you are confused who's who with TGR names vs Zwift names, send me a PM I'll send you the list.
Did my VO2 max test today. 61. I guess that's pretty good. Going to start doing the personal coaching with Training Peaks integration. Really need me a new trainer. Using the Cyclops wheel off trainer in ERG mode at the Physio was sweet. My current trainer is a fucking joke lol.
I need to ride more apparently
Nice Jamal, although I think that jersey is costing you watts! I've got multiple fans going to keep the engine temps down when the RPM and watts go way up.
Looking forward to next one
Yeah that was the thought.
And it's cold in there and I have two fans right in front of me, have never felt overly warm. I have to wear a thermal jersey to warm up and turn the fans off if i'm just casually pedaling.
I'll pump an old cycling buddies base layer. Look at Knave Wear. I like their logo and motto. Have a knife day was a reference on our rides of bringing the wrong bike to the ride.

Do I did a bit of trainer/bike maintenance tonight.
I have a Kurt Kinetic R1 (wheel off, smart trainer). When it first came out in Dec 2019/Jan 2020 it got some unfavorable reviews from the high profile reviewers like DC Rainmaker, GP Lama and Slowtwitch. They thought it was noisy, the software program was spotty and not very accurate at the top of the power range (1600w-2000w), abs some serious lag in power data.
In late January early February 2020 Kurt Kinetic put them on sale for 40% off of the $1100 retail price directly from their web page. I also had a proform deal at %40, so this “new deal” was not of any use to me. I called customer service and and spoke to someone and let them know I was trying to buy an R1 online but the discount code was not working. She created a “unique one-off code” for me that I then was able to actually get to work on my online proform, and ended up getting the R1 at 40% off of my 40% off pro-price. It ended up being just over $400 total!
Little did they know they would not have had any issues selling all the models at full price once the pandemic lockdown hit.
Since then Kurt Kinetic has released a few different software and hardware updates, and the machine has since been reviewed as being accurate.
I lube the free hub at the start of the winter season, and adjusted the belt tension after the initial break in period. What I don’t do is calibrate it very often. It’s a pain in the ass to do a 10 minute Zwift ride, stop, un-pair the trainer from Zwift, log into the Kurt Kinetic app, pair the trainer, and then do a spin down calibration. But when ever I have done the calibration the 780ish value is always within 1 or 2 of the same number I always get.
Tonight I decided my chain needed some love, so I pulled my chain and soaked it in the wax crock pot (Whole other thread).
While cleaning a bit of dry wax flakes off of the cassette and the base of the trainer I wondered how accurate my R1 trainer really was?
Has my FTP really increased X amount, am I really that much slower (less powerful) than 10 guys on the TGR ride?
I have a Stages Power Meter Left Crank on my road bike, so I pulled that off of my road bike and installed it on my Zwift bike, with my Garmin Head Unit, along with a freshly waxed chain.
I did a few short NYC laps and then a big climb up Innsbruck KOM.
My numbers on my Garmin that was reading my Stages Power Meter were almost identical to the numbers on Zwift screen. The changes in power showed the exact same numbers simultaneously with no lag in either reading. And after a 45 min ride in Innsbruck all my power numbers recorded on my Garmin were the exact same as my Strava numbers recorded from Zwift.
I’m impressed and happy with my Kurt Kinetic R1, and also feel confident the Zwift numbers are accurate.
I haven' been able to calibrate my shitty Kurt trainer in like 2+ years. No amount of pulling batteries etc will get my trainer to connect to the app anymore. Maybe it's cause the trainer is like 6 or 7 years old and they don't support it anymore. IDK.
Glad you are having success with that R1 trainer and got such a sweet deal!
I'm upgrading to a wheel-off trainer, and will soon be selling my Tacx Vortex wheel-on smart trainer. I've had it for a little over a year, and done maybe 20 ish rides so it's in excellent condition. The local market is hottttt right now, so thinking of listing locally for $500 CAD with a lightly used trainer tire thrown in. I can figure out a shipping cost if anybody is seriously interested.
