I can see the blue sky from berkeley now too. Are you going up to Tahoe sometime this weekend?Quote:

My sis just spent one hour trying to get from our house to the city... her whole trip involved getting on 101 south at E. Blithedale, and off at Seminary (one exit farther south) and back home... a whopping 3 miles or so. Apparently 101 south has only one lane open past Sausalito, and Tam Junction is closed.Quote:

Top of Squaw last hour, 176 mph. I think that is the most I remember seeing ever on the sensors.

The rain is just starting to turn to snow at 5400' near Topaz Lake in Nevada.
I should be ok....my crawl space is still dry....we need the level to rise another 5 or 6 feet to "inundate" my crib (meaning get up to the floor joists)....my crawl space ended up only getting a few inches of water in the flood of '97 (which took me out of 100yr flood status so I didn't need to get flood insurance :fuckyou: )...Quote:

U.S. 50 has just been closed from Pollock Pines to Meyers due to landslide concerns. With the closure of I-80, this means there is now no trans-Sierra route except the vulnerable Hwy 88. Heavy snows on the passes following the heavy rain will cause delays. If you can get to skiing tomorrow, should be a great day once the avy control work is completed.
Good luck over there Corky! Keep dry. MTT, watch those heating gases. If you can get to a hardware store, buy a cheap insurance policy...CO detector.
This nukeage thread has sure taken a few wierd turns.
Marin may be sunny, but not dry. Apparently San Anselmo had 4 feet of "fast moving water" running through downtown, and the public library had 3' of water in the lower floor. Major bummer. Everything is el swampo... high tide is about now causing backups of creeks, etc.
88 is closed due to avalanche control on both sides of Kirkwood right now. There is NO way up to Tahoe right now...Quote:

Another friend who has a press pass drove down I-80 and took pics of the multiple mud slides blocking the road. Apparently some are as large as 100 yards, and there are multiple. The crews working them confirmed that they think it will be closed 48 hours at a minimum. Wow!
In other news, the snow is looking really good around here.

Yes, he drove the road that skirts Verdi Peak and drops to Boca. A 2 year old 4 runner.....but he swears he didnt even need 4 wheel drive. That said, now it has been snowing for 4 more hours....so who knows if it is still viable.Quote:
