Despite some very good advice from some peeps here, I went ahead and bought a boat late last year. Used = check. Used in the ocean = check. In/Out powertrain = check. Bottom paint = check. Went against everything you guys told me :frown:.
The good: higher-end builder (Sea Ray) and proven hull design. Single anal-retentive owner for 95% of her life. New 4.3L engine installed last year... I had to put a little bit of work into her this spring (trailer wheels/tires, re-carpet bunks, re-wire lights, gimbal bearing and boots on the outdrive) but after that I did nothing but enjoy her all summer. I'm into it for about $1,500 less than the price of the down payment to join a boat club (as was recommended here as well).
