Plum YAK Templates... anyone? anyone?
The box they came in had none... boo
Yes, it looks like the hole pattern on the new Salomon STH 2 binding is different than the Salomon heel template in this thread and also on bindingfreedom.com. Does anyone have the new template?
Also, does this mean that the Sollyfit plates won’t work for the new STH 2 bindings?
I see the Radical template has been updated from a month ago when I mounted - what is the pin line that is now called up on it? Anyone know if the spacing on anything changed?
Template for Marker Lord SP? Anybody?
So I remounted my 11/12 Plums Guides with Sollyfit toes onto their third pair of skis today (Watea 106, a bit heavier than I wanted but they'll ski well and I got a good price). The Plum and Dynafit templates are definitely both off for my heels. It could be just the 11/12 model, as others have said in the past that it works fine. Check everything if mounting Plums anyway! My print scaling was definitely correct. I used the Dynafit heel template as a starting point again anyway, but needed to shift the front screws 4px forward and the rear ones 4px back to get the right pattern, then everything 30px forward to get the heel pin gap right.
...then before drilling I kind of fucked it up by trying to get the gap at exactly 4mm with the heels in the middle of the tracks. I had the toes mounted already, boot snapped into the toes, heels lined up to the paper template and heel pins slotted into the boots' heel sockets. Hex keys measured the gap at 5mm, so I moved the heel templates forward 1mm, rechecked to get 4mm, drilled, glued, then rechecked. Now it was 3mm ...and then I remembered doing this exact thing on my last pair 18 months ago. Writing this should get it into my head for next time!
With Dynafit this wouldn't be a problem but the Plum heel moves in 2mm notches, so I'll just need to ski them with 5mm gap again. That's safer than 3mm, right? I had no releases last year, toes mostly locked one click, holding back a little compared to alpine setups. Are Plum pins the same length as Dynafits'? If so, I'll have the same pin insertion as a Dynafit setup, so I'm not worried.
Confirmed: Marker Lord SP hole pattern same as Jester/Griffon/Squire
I have only found these:

They are in German, and I have not tested them yet. Will do before New Year.
Bump for a solly sth2 paper jig
Anyone know about marker schizo? Is it griffon/jester?
Sent from my DROID RAZR using TGR Forums
Looks like the heel pattern is different from the Guardian. 6 holes on the Guardian and 4 on the STH2. Have a look at this thread http://www.tetongravity.com/forums/s...bindings/page3, Tutuko and larfburger came up with a solution using jondrum's sth template. Would be nice to have a template we don't have to jerry-rig though.

I'm currently up to my eyeballs with tons of stuff. If Jon or someone else can't get back to this and the STH2, give a shout, and hopefully I can get into drafting mode in a few days. In the mean time, scanning binding bottoms and providing dimensions per this example, or shoot a bunch of images with calipers measuring from edge of hole to edge of hole (ie, left to left & bottom to bottom) could expedite drawing. Couple this with relative BSC and BSL info.

Thanks, just used mounted an old pair of Fritschi's. For any other Euro users you will need to set your printer to 'letter' from 'A4' to get the scale right.
Anyone got the actual dimensions in millimetres of the original Dynafit mount?
I need to program them into my machine.
Anyone have the STH2 Jig Yet?
Anybody working on a template for the new Fritschi Vipec? I'm trying to get a hold of the paper template from Fritschi, no luck yet. I can share that if I successfully procure it.
So I had a go at my own template based on various bits of info. I just need to get the router up and running again and try cutting some holes to see if it works.
I've published the PDF here. Note, you can turn bits on and off using layers.
Hey Jon, Thanks for putting out the templates. I used to mount my own bindings back in the days when new bindings came with paper templates. Shortly after that, I started making and printing paper templates of my own. One thing I learned back then is not all printers print 1:1 aspect ratio, and it's important to check scale in both directions. With that in mind, could you let us know what the scale is on the marks used to center the binding?
(I may still have some old templates, but I doubt anyone wants templates for M48 Markers or Tyrolia 280's.)
Looking for the STH2
I guess I will just use the old solly toe and free hand the heal
First post, ever. Hopefully the right thread, hopefully I didn't miss this answer tucked away somewhere.
I have a 2012 Marker F12, it's the black plastic, one year before the current black and green EPF model.
I have been to three different shops and got three different answers.
Do Marker Dukes from 2012 have the same hole pattern as the F12? It would be a 3rd mount on a pair of 2010 Gotamas and I weight 250lbs, is this a bad idea should I just try to make the F12s work?
Are there any particular years of Dukes that would work, or am I just going to have to plug and re-drill anyways?
Are this year's 2013/2014 FKS/pivot 14s the same hole pattern as previous years - i.e. the template is good to go? I believe the answer is "yes" but just want to confirm. Anyone verified? It seems like they added the "wider footprint" language, but I think the difference is just AFD. Thanks.
I understand that some bindings are EPF and some are not.
What I'm asking is whether or not the 2012 F12 is the same hole pattern as the 2012 Duke.
With regard to "is this a bad idea" - I'm basically attempting a 3rd mount on an already soft ski. Is this a bad plan: wood plug holes, then epoxy and re-drill if need be or re-use the existing hole (I'm asking if that is possible). Is one method preferred? I'm a fatty (250lbs) and I don't want to rip out bindings if I use the old holes.
Reuse the existing hole. You should be able to figure out if the holes work by taking the mount plates from the F12 and placing them sans screws over the existing holes. But YES, they are the same mount pattern.
Go buy some long cure marine epoxy and mount those fuckers. Good luck.
Allow me to rephrase. Assuming the same size, if they're both EPF, then the hole pattern is the same; if neither are EPF, then the hole pattern is the same; and here's the kicker, if one is EPF and the other isn't, then they're not the same. I don't remember when the EPF change happened on the Dukes.
^^^ Applies to all Marker touring bindings.
Dynafit mounters using Jon's template: did you find it necessary to do the sequenced screw tightening / rejiggering traditionally recommended for Dynafit mounts? Haven't tried yet, but if the template is right on and your marks are true, seems to me everything should be square. Jiggering still required? Will be testing tomorrow and will follow up.
Jiggering might be needed. Cross tightening takes no more time and makes sense to me. Jiggering is the final tweak in centering the heel slots exactly on the pins. Possible variations in toe fitting, boot soles, base plate, the way you drill out the base plate holes can throw off an exactly centered hole pattern.
Whenever I get a mount to match the slots and pins perfectly, I assume that there were at least two of the variables out of alignment and they cancelled out to end up spot on.
