edit: if you guys are thinking about going Saturday, PM me. I'd be down. Do I need touring gear?

edit: shit, with so many folks interested maybe we should go anyway.
actually, it could be really really really really terrible up there if it freezing rains, then rains, then freezes.
RAINEY DAY POLL:
choose A or B
A: The best skiing in NA is a leisurely 30 min drive up a scenic canyon. You can ski neck deep powder on a regular basis. There is insane mtn biking at your doorstep. The weather is mildy pleasent. Your neighbors may belong to a religous cult, but they are freindly. The opportunity to drink your face off still exists. Culture is a plane trip away. You have a decent job that allows a compfortable lifestyle.
B: The worst skiing in NA is a traffic laden 3 hr trip on icey roads. Powder is 3 inches of pig snot. You can see how many times they will warranty your mtn bike after hucking to flat at Lynn. The weather is consistantly what you don't want. You have to drink your face off just to deal. Your neighbors are probably criminals. The MBTA has culture like a petrie dish. Your job pays you 6 figures which allows you to break even after you spend all your vaca time flying back to SLC to ski.
ah, fack. no avie gear yet - its on my off-season list.
and you've obviously been slacking, whiner.Quote:

hmm...excellent idea.
i have tomorrow off, but i want to deal with getting my jeep running asap, which may mean fucking iwth it tonight.
but i agree, a boston drinking summit at the least will be in order, if not skiing some surprise pow on mt WA or in the rain anywhere else.
pretty much anywhere in the city works for me. and i know basom's down.
Sheesh, so maybe you should move.Quote:

Count me in.
good call. if it snows, MT WA. if not, murphy's law in southie. $20 and you won't remember leaving.
ah ha--or we could have a challenge
murphy's law vs. the tam
where do you get drunker for cheaper.
in addition to mogulcross, and the impending jeepcross, mildbill and powder11 now bring you: liquorcross. all the fun of skiercross, but with booze!
19 more days 'til we come down for Marathon festivities. Bar right in the van. Me trying to railslide an escalator in the Govt center station in my sneakers drunk at noon. Getting in a fight with a street vendor because my $3 hot dog sucked. I drink in that town one day a year for a reason (but that one day is coming soon).
NH country boy visits the big city and they call US massholesQuote:

does this include the myriad of fake irish bars that dot the boston streets? Lir, the Kells, Ned Devines, Slappy McShitfaced OBrien's, to name a few?Quote:

I already commute to work at least an hour. I wouldn't be working in the city at all. Most likely, my commute would decrease. I did a lot of checking into cost of living, rent/buy etc. My housing would increase maybe 50% for a similar place, double if I go a little nicer. It would be less if I purchased a place.Quote:

In all honestly, it takes me 30 minutes when traffic is bad, usually much less. ;)
A v. B is a tough arguement. Living anyplace where there is a dominate culture is difficult if it is not yours. Sure LCC, BCC are right there, which are amazing places to be in your free time. I will miss them wherever I go. I've skied probably more days than most people any of us know. I have done some amazing things in these hills, and am looking for something new.
Sure I have a job that pays the bills, but I would like a career where my religion doesn't dictate my pay/title. I have the responsibility of most VP's but the pay of an intern. All the while some slacker gets twice the salary I get because somebody in his Ward recomended him for the job. The job I have to do because he is not qualified, experienced or even trying to do. I'm sure that happens everywhere, but at least I could work for a respectable company that pays decent.
All I can say is WBCN is getting me thru this dreary afternoon on the headphones. This DJ Adam-12 is killing it..

pshhh everyone knows its all about WAAF! :p
Agreed, but whatever comes in on the walkman in zee office...

It's all about The Big Show.

I'm damn serious! They nearly ruint it with al that damn storm and birdsey psuedo WAAF shite a few years ago.
On the main subject I'd rather be a dog catcher in Boston than the King of SLC. However the skiing the Wasatch is about 100 times better than ice skating the white mountains.
Maybe the answer is to bust ass during the week and pump up the Delta Frequent Flier miles on the weekend.
I'm all about meta-purrell.Quote:

Gotcha, I was a bit confused there.
note to self: spelling phonetically based on words spoken with boston accents is hard.
If I had said it out loud I probably would have understood it.
tonight is most likely liquorcross and tomorrow the PBR marathon. 2 kegs to glory?
When you're done waiting and watching, PM me before you leave. Looks like it won't stop raining until after the weekend. If I do go up I would need a place to crash though......Quote:

latest roemer spooge, from the jay snow report:
This just in from Jim Roemer, our powder forecaster:
"AFTER SEVERAL DAYS OF WARM TEMPS, RAIN AND DEPLETED SNOW COVER...WE ARE STILL OF THE OPINION THAT A MODEST TO MAJOR SNOWSTORM WILL BRING AT LEAST A FOOT TO JAY SUNDAY NIGHT AND MONDAY. WE WILL HAVE DETAILS IN THE NEXT DAY OR TWO..."
i will be heading up there if such a thing happens. boston magnions who need ride, let me know.
if that happens, im all over it. who's up for liquorcross?
dude, i am so down for the liqX. keep a kid posted.
As far as the boston sucking thing goes..... all i can say is sometimes i can not stand it here anymore, so i go somewhere else for awhile. usually i can't stand it there just as much, so i come back here where i know everyone else is miserable along with me.
i'm getting that itch again. won't be able to scratch it till i;m done with rehab though. where i will go, i dont know. but hopefully the people there will know how to drive with the proper agressiveness and tenacity, or else i will be frustrated.
Killington might actually be a good call Mon or Tues..

I like the way you guys think...if it rains we drink. You'd all be in rehab if you lived in Seattle.
heehee, already 5 PBR's, 1 newcastle and a Molson XXX deep. More as it develops :D
