Of course, my actual favorite burger these days is the "Roy-Al with Cheese" at A Tavola. 1/2 lb certified angus, sharp cheddar, caramelized onions, pickles, tomatoes, shredded lettuce, and special sauce, on a french roll. It's what the Big Mac wants to be when it grows up.
Oh, and accompanied by really, truly, fresh and tasty fries.

I'm going to head to the dining hall for a greasy yet juicy cheesburger lovingly prepared on a huge well seasoned griddle by a little hispanic woman who can barely reach the patties at the back to flip them.
Grade D meat? Check.
Added grease from a griddle that was used for Bacon until 11am? Check.
Processed cheese product? Check.
Lightly toasted/buttered bun? Check.
Plus, if I really want to have a heart attack I can go back for more as much as I want for the next 8 hours.
Oh, and they have sweet potato fries and tater tots. Beat that.
For fast food, I still prefer to think outside the bun.

i was in vegas for an ultimate frisbee tourny and i had my in-and-out cherry popped. sooo good i took one home (18 hour drive to CO) and deep fried it a day later. crispy double double animal style...nice.
The only reason I like Taco Bell is because it's cheap. Everything on the menu is the same damn ingredients just in a different package - tortilla (hard or soft), meat, cheese, lettuce, tomato, and sometimes sour cream. I've never seen one there either, but I'm only there 6-8 weeks of the year and I'm sure there is a lot I haven't seen there. Just bought a nice grill for the house there though, so I usually just make my own.
I ate a giant double cheese burger with bacon in a croissant tonight and I even covered the thing with fry sauce. It was good.
