I'll go as far as saying moseley deserved the silver in the 2002 games, but Janne Lahtela killed it that year hands down.


And yeah I am hatin on bloom. I just can't believe he took this olympics seriously when he ran off to do the combine right after the event. I think the olympics are much more important and more of an achievement than the NFL. I wanted him to win, but he didn't commit to it and therefore he shouldn't have even competed. there are athletes that have commited their lives to skiing and those are the ones that deserve to compete. I know bloom was our best chance, but he was smiling after he lost, he didn't give a shit. I can't respect an asshole that doesn't respect skiing even if he is an awesome skier.

i can agree. but in terms of talent, i don't think bloom is as good as moseley was. maybe if bloom practiced a little more, but after watching his runs, i wasn't very impressed.

and i did see bloom smiling after he lost... he should've been slapped across it. also, i think the NFL dream is overrated. gold in moguls > star NFLer but i can understand that moguls won't pay the bills.

I don't know if it was a mistake or what but the other night during men's moguls the discussion of Blooms speed came up. One of the commentators suggested that he had run a 100 metre in 9.9, if that (much like his 40 speed) is true he should have a chance to redeem himself in the summer of 2008.

With the current record at 9.78 and with a lot of guys running right behind that, a 9.9 wouldn't be close to a medal.

Never mind the fact that Jeremy Bloom can't run a 9.9 100M, he just can't. Neither can I or anyone I've ever met. I'm not hating, he just can't do it.

Why? Because he's white? Just because you've never met somone that can doensn't mean they don't exist.

I've worked out with jeremy... ok, in the same room as jeremy and while he's a good athlete I don't see 9.9 attached to him. I've been looking for his highschool times but haven't found them.

Running a 9.9 is like a car that can go over 200 mph. you might think a subaru STi is quick, but its not going over 200mph.

edit: he ran 10.88 for 100m in 2000. Thats Last year he ran track (i believe). 9.9 isn't going to happen

Yeah the "white" comment was stupid and I shouldn't have said it, but your arguement isn't all that valid. There are guys in the NFL and college footgball that have world class speed, but because they play football they don't compete in international competition, although many of them compete in NCAA track. Bloom probably would have been one of them if he wan't competeing on the world cup.

Those NFLers you speak of who also ran track in College would have given their left testicle to make the olympic team and run for gold. There are just too many fast track guys in the US for the coaches to have to "settle" for a guy who can run a 9.9 when he has 6 guys who can run a 9.8/100m. It really is that close. Yes, those guys who ended up playing football instead have "world Class" speed compared to other countries, but still aren't in the top 10 in the US.

I'm pretty sure most guys would rather play in the NFL than run track. Something tells me the money and the fame are a little more in the NFL.

Could they try to do both? Maybe, but you would have to think an NFL training regime is too different from a track regime, meaning when the football season is over the athlete is too far behind to catch up to the top track guys. Also, I bet a lot of NFL teams would try to limit what guys can do in the offseason, and a guy that runs track would get a smaller contract because he has a larger chance of injury.

Based on that 100m time I stand by my 4.4's prediction. Coming right from mogul training I wouldn't be surprised to see a 4.5 or higher. With a time like that and reletive lack of skills his mediocre stock is going to drop like a rock. I hope he does blaze something but I think his future is limited to invited training camps at best.
