Nice. I chased what looked to be a big dump in Bend and drove South Monday night. Bachelor on Tuesday: freezing rain crust over 4 inches or so of pow, fog and wind; normal day. Bachy Wed: Boot top fresh, better vis and good skiing, still not the goods at my new home, Crystal. Figures.

Fantastic! I had a client meeting that never materialized. I Can't believe I could have been having an epic day at Crystal instead of waiting for someone who never showed. Oh well...what are you going to do?

I'm thinking of hitting Stevens this morning. White Pass is closed due to high winds - don't know what that means for Crystal.

wow. Where did this forecast come from? Its definately a little different than the noaa forecast. I like yours a lot better tho. I am sore from skiing powder all day yesterday but I should be fully recovered for more pow on saturday!

Some shots of NB looked o so sweet yesterday.... as did everything else.. gotta say this was the first tiem at xtal that I managed to ski a completely untracked main run at 1:20pm.. amazing..

o and gota say damm fine forest was well damm fine..

I will be doing some ptex work tonight though... grrr....

question to some of the xtam mags, did they clear out a bunch of trees form the bear pits area? it just seemed different..

They've done tons of clearing there and everywhere else. I think it's overkill and exposes way too many of the gnarly stashes. Oh well, progress or something purporting to be progress, marches on.

did bear pits open yesterday? For some reason I thought it was closed yesterday. Of course I rarely ventured lower than the Campbel basin

He once dropped the 60 foot Hunter's Rock, with his 'troll jacket and pack on. Stuck the landing and needed his shovel to dig himself out. And of course the classic Hole-in-the-Wall 25 footer which he casually dropped, while trailing a sled---empty tho it wuz...

Check out the hole through the far SW corner of Three Way. There's a Barker story linked to it too!! In those days, he was the man..also one of the first to lay tracks on "The Crux"

I agree....

Though one line, that we cleared a bit back in the early 90's, Irma La Deuce, needs it again......I'd tell ya where it is, but then I'd have to kill ya......and they opened up the LA line left of Hot Rocks too much, that we also gladed nicely back then..

Man, I love hearing this local lore. Whole bunch of it at Squaw and Jackson but I guess every resort has its cool stories. Would make for an interesting coffee table book.
