So a lot different from the teaser image.
Flexon Phil posted an initial review on the 2019 Endurance 98s. He has yet to steer me wrong.
104 goes away next year. Citadel is a 106. Have a pair of 191’s ordered up!
I guess if *in theory* they replace 5 of my skis, I can afford $1500 on a set. Damn even after his demo sale that'll be $750. I would if I could but I can't.
Got the word my Citadels are being built up....
I have the Citadel 106 and was worried the non-Newtonian fluid thing was a gimmick. I couldn'tthink of a better Colorado sidecountry ski after skiing on it though. Super light and as stable as i need for the groomers
Bumping this as they are relentlessly advertising to me in Instagram and their full money back guarantee has me interested to try them. Thinking of the Citadel 106 as a touring ski. Hoping this vibestop would somewhat return the feel of a heavier ski.
Short answer: My guess is the Citadels would be a fun and capable rig for touring and would worth taking advantage of the money back guarantee.
Ramble: I’ve passed on my Z90s after realizing the overlap between them and my Endurance 98s and Atlas 80s. The Z90s and Atlas are ‘heavy’ compared to the Endurance and love to carve.
The Endurances are more towards the Citadel and do not feel heavy, but are very capable and versatile and super fun all mountain, except deeper and stiffer snows. Like Phil, I moved my mount back to reduce tip dive. The vibe stop is also claimed to ‘protect the knees’ and ‘reduce tiredness’ so you can ski longer. I think the later is true and when you feel them stiffen in a turn, it’s pretty noticeable and solid. On variable groomers and crud there is a lot tip banging, however.

Edit: "except deeper and stiffer snows."
Umm ok. Well ass you say not a lot to lose. Those comments on the tips don’t sound awesome.
I have a pair of Citadels in 185. The VibeStop tech is the real deal - the ski definitely stiffens up with speed/vibration. It's a really interesting sensation in that the soft flex allows you to lollygag at low speed when skiing with your slower friends/family, but the ski stiffens up once you pick up speed and lay the skis over on edge.
On edge, the skis stiffen nicely and let you haul ass (relatively). The tips can get bounced a bit through variable, but it's not really an issue if you're on top of the skis. If this is your only concern, I wouldn't worry about it much. Stay engaged on edge and you'll power through most piles; skis are stiff-enough underfoot that it shouldn't be an issue in softer snow. Is this the ski I want when I want to point-it on a high-speed runout? No, I'd look elsewhere. They're definitely not your metal laminate chargers.
The tips float well-enough in soft snow, and the skis are super fun in tight terrain as they are so easy to flick around due to their low weight and soft initial flex. Point and shoot type fun.
I think their biggest downside is their low weight - there just isn't enough mass in the ski to provide top-level dampening over shitty, variable hard snow. Even with a bunch of the VibeStop putty imbedded in their cores, they are still light, carbon skis, albeit much-better damped than other similarly light skis. They still work fine in shitty conditions, but your body will be taking the brunt of that vibration/impact. I think they are best as a softer snow ski when you're not really looking to charge. GREAT dad/mom skis.
Happy to answer any more questions.
Working Proto w Cyrus today…..
Still need to mount up my Citadel 114s.
Any recent love for renoun?
Mild Curiosity bump.
For Citadels or Renoun in general?
On firm to 6” or so of freshies/crud to carvey bumps and corn harvesting, the Atlas 80’s are very capable and lots of fun. They carve very well and don’t have a speed limit. My aging Endurance 98s don’t carve great on bullet proof snow and don’t quite float great in stiff snow or over 12-18” of snow, but handle crud, bumps and soft PP and corn for carving. They’re a fairly playful and all mountain capable option.
I’m seeing good comments on the Endurance 88s for front side leaning all mountains.
