Over a year in in my Fox DOSS w/o any issues at all. Probably average 3 rides a week on it in that time. Took it off for a while and don't particularly miss it for most trails right now, will put it back on in the fall.
My PA trails are all up/down/rolling constantly. Lots of rocks, roots, logs etc but not really "all mountain" riding

One thing I found after getting a dropper was that I was not only putting it all the way up for climbs and slammed down for the steep gnar, but somewhere in the middle - maybe 2" down from the top - for general downhill cruising. Still high enough to sit and not feel like I'm on a clown bike, but the little bit of extra room lets me be more playful with the bike and throw it around a little more. I didn't ever feel like I was lacking this before, but now that I can do it without any bother it's helped make biking even more fun.
No one who's serious about biking on tgr does it for fun. What's wrong with you?
I often find my self using my dropper post more than my shifters on a fun pedally downhill.

I've got about 7 years of Reverb usage in my household on 3 posts between my wife and I. Exactly zero problems. Cut lines on all, bled 2 of 3 after cutting.
They are really smooth, have infinitely adjustable height, very little horizontal play - if any, adjustable return speed, and I haven't done shit to them.
Have I seen some lemons? Yep, but they seemed to have really figured out that product by this point.
Imho, Remotely adjustable seatposts are great for mountain biking. It's a development right up there with suspension and disc brakes.
Modern mountain bikes are fucking awesome. So were the mountain bikes I was riding in 1989, 1995, 1999, etc. but the one I have today is the best.

I have a LEV and I like it, but I can ride a bike w/o a dropper post too. As I said in the prior thread, I had a Joplin and liked it less. I have no interest in a GD because I'm finicky about seat height and mandatory 1" or 2" drops don't cut it for me. Plus there's the rattley nature of that steampunk engineering behind it.
When your core audience is wannabes stuck in cubicles or behind a desk in a fancy trading house, law firm or bank/brokerage, hating their life but continuing it because they need the middle class approval of Status and Income and Trinket Acquisition, empty positivity in a forum is like verbal anti-depressants. My original GD had issues with the adjustable ring moving so either the seat wouldn't go down or stay up. I fixed it with duct tape. My Turbo GD worked great. Started to have issues at the end of a season so I sent it in and for $15, it came back good as new and went on my GF's bike. I've had a Reverb for a few seasons and I like it better than the GD. It's starting to sink a little at the top without hitting the button. Sometimes it does it, sometimes not. I'm going to check the air and then maybe have to send it in. First issue in two seasons.
People talk about these things breaking, needing servicing, etc. I've had some sort of dropper for the last 6-7 years and I've also worn out a lot of parts like tires, chains, ders, rebuilt or at least serviced suspension parts. Riding bikes wears moving parts out. Yeah, will a dropper need more service than a solid piece of metal holding your seat? Sure. Does a dropper help me enjoy my rides a little better? Yes.

In relation to dropper posts. I like them and use one on my yeti 575. On my 29er XC rig, I could benefit from it on occasion but do not care enough to buy one for it. Likewise for the old beater 26 HT that I ride most of the time. On the 575 I have an old GD Turbo I bought off of Marshal two season ago. It creaks a bit but works fine. It was originally 4" with no intermediate position. I drilled another hole about 1.5" down from topout/fully extended. I generally ride in that position unless I am pedalling up for long bits. My GF has an old GD that I bought in 2008. Other than the occasional greasing, it has worked flawless since purchase. One of the main reasons I have not jumped for something newer is that the cable moves as you adjust height on a fair number of them. And some have had some bad rep... CB.
