Ok, first off its 2014, that shit about "skiers would be lost without snowboarders" and still be skiing like steins if not for boarders, is played out....maybe true, maybe not. Id like to think tech and manufacturing would have figured it out eventually.
I don't know how the skiers feel about the pipe.... but i know I enjoy watching them more so then watching gay trays in the stunt ditch, the boarders lack amplitude, difficulty, and style compared to skiers. The pipe skiers have basically shown up the boarders in their own specialty.
fuck ya me too. ragged mtn NH 91-92 on a Burton Craig Kelly air, sorels, and a good concussion once I figured out how to go straight. picked it up again in '96-97' for about three seasons, back when skis were still straight and skiing was lame as dog shit. As a surfer, skateboarder, and skier, I personally think if it wasn't for snowboarding, skiing wouldn't be where it is now, they are the one's who pushed the envelope in park and pipe and it took awhile for skiing to catch-up.
The fat rockered powder ski and twin tip is a direct result of snowboarding and surfing, trying to match the float snowboarders had in powder and playfulness all over the mountain
snowboarding kicked the door down in the publics acceptance of a alternative way to look at the mountain and ride it.
I personally want to thank snowboarding, because I HATE spandex, I would hate to see where skiing would be if not for snowboarding, probably just a bunch of rich wanabe dentists. Oh wait... That's 1/2 of TGR.
