I am totally fukking in. (KATHY!!!!) Will have the usual and unusual tag alongs in tow. Maybe Captain Powder, too!
Count me in.
Certainly not a necessity, but if I fly down I'd likely fly to Reno and drive from there and depending on when I get in I might get in half a day or something at a Tahoe area resort as opposed to missing out if I drive right to Mammoth.
In any event, I'm interested. I did the mini a few years back and it was a lot of fun and a great way to end the season! This winter I've hardly even been on the snow and I'd love to make it to Mammoth to get my butt kicked around the mountain by everyone else who have actually skied this winter! :)
Are we going to see another Stump Alley race between MTT and Twins?
This shaping up to be mini to remember
(or to try to forget, depending on circumstances)
Sound good to me. Tioga one day? I'm in. Scralph can I get a ride?
FKNA! That seals the deal. No way I'm missing this.
And I'm sure Turx and Cinders will be tagging along in my car. Can you run a volcano off an inverter? Hmmm.
I just txt'd Bodhi to chime in here on whether he's coming with Dude and blue cocktails.
Sprite, let me know if you are definitely bringing your 15 year-old. Mine gets done with school the week before so I'm sure he'd love to come and rip some turns on his 333skis for all the haters. Although if he comes there won't be any volcano action. Hmmm.
I'm most probably in.
For those who asked, Squaw has already announced May 9 as their closing day. No idea if that's set in stone or subject to change.
Bah, looks like they will have stopped the daily non stops to Mammoth from SJC by then. Is CA-120 usually open by then?
Only if you want to roll in to FKNA via the most ghetto-magulous ride in the Yay area. And only if Poser doesn't want dibs from flying into OAK/SFO as opposed to RNO.
Usually is a relative term. Some of us think it's nice to have 120 open as a shortcut to head to Mammoth. Some of us think 120 being closed means there will be more filled in lines and better June/July skiing. It's all relative. 108 may be open, who knows. If anything you can pitstop in SLT the night before en route if both are closed.
Ok, I will try to swing this. That the end of may is coming between two weeks of heli in AK at the end of march and Momentum ski camp in Early July is not going to please my bosses much but I may be able to do some west coast marketing especially if I self finance and work from San Fran for a week. Is it easy to get to Mammoth from SF?
^ ~4.5-5 hours if 120 is open through Yose, ~5 hours if 108 is open through Sonora Pass, ~6 hours going through SLT/Kirkwood but it all depends on time of day and your fatigue
The problem is driving those routes quickly at night is tricky with deer and windy roads and fatigue what not. If 108 is open, spending the night on the bank of the Stanislaus at Baker/Deadman camp is another way to split up the drive and save the wild part of the drive for the morning. Driving through Yose is the most direct route but I seriously am keeping my fingers crossed that it's not open all the way through until Memorial Day Weekend. Another option is if you have a buddy or can carpool with someone from SLT, drive to SLT the night before and then get up early and driving to Mammy in the morning is super easy. You can easily do 2.5 hours from SLT to Mammoth that time of year.
Then I'm in, too!
Bringing two Siberian Huskies to the party Sunday(pattye, hold onto your sandwich!) but staying to eat as well...
mogb, my wife might need to whip up a vat of her Kansas City BBQ sauce.
Let me know how much would be appropriate...
Damn, gonna have to check this deal out.
This might well be the way to go. Sinecure took a look at their prices and thinks it's a great deal.
The big-ass drawback to that place, as someone pointed out last year, is that there is absolutely nothing going on at night. And only one, expensive, restuarant to eat in.
We've have got to get our Roberto's fix!
...and it's a bit far from The Official Maggot Lift, and The Beach.
I guess if there is a shuttle running to town, or someone doesn't mind staying sober and driving, or there's a huge posse of us there, it would work out pretty good
From the website:
Guests will be charged a resort fee of $20 per room, per night.
I'm seeing the rooms come up for pretty cheap right now, but I can't find any mention of the lift tickets being included. Am I missing it? or is that just a deal from May 2009 that we're hoping will be repeated in 2010?
IN. I will bring wine and cheese. I should also have a few bring a friend coupons if anyone is interested. So happy this is not on mothers day as it has been a few yrs since my last mini!
In plus a few.....
I am happy to hook any mags up with the buddy pass pricing, as I was told the tickets are $55 a day if I buy them a day in advance on the web. I think she said I can buy 5-6 of them, so let me know here how many days you want and I will pm to confirm your in.
(Splat's covered)
(Ottime covered)
I can usually find condo deals in town that should be less than $50 per person a night on average. Let me know if your interested and based on responses, I will line something up. I also posted up a great deal for any mags wanting to ski Mammoth Apr 16th-20th in the Hookups Forum.
Looking forward to meeting the mags.
I'm in for discount tickets since I didn't renew my mvp this year.
YAHOO! My ears are ringing! :) Splat... I love when you ring me!
"In" every weekend during the spring season... especially this one!
Snowsprite... hopefully it works out that you can head out for this one! It would be AWESOME to spend some time with you... on two feet! :)
Count me in
the ironic thing is my shoulder will probably be healed by then, but I won't be able to go. Oh well, maybe one day I'll get to meet splat and prove I'm not the douche I am on the internet, in person. Or maybe I can convince some people to road trip it with me!
Does horizon do student discounts?
Every year is different and all but so far we have had 412 inches of snow and last year we had 469 inches. Here's what it looked like last year on May 16th

May is a great time of the year.
Posting for tracking purposes. My ski schedule has been controlled by Mrs. DJSapp mini-DJSapp. The Mrs. wants to get a day in this season, this could be a possibility.
My house is at 7982' but I slept in my bed and not outside so it technically wasn't camping.
May is corn season, unless we get a pow dump, which does occasionally happen. Either way, there will be good in and out of bounds skiing, so just plan on doing which ever you prefer in any combination. There is a group of maggots camping around town (about 8,000 ft) ,chilly evenings, but if you put a rock from the campfire in your sleeping bag you will help entertain the drunken maggots from said campfire.:fm:
I could use a buddy tix. Can you do a 2 of 3 day thing?
I want to ski inbounds on Thursday and Saturday. Tour local on Friday and Tioga (perhaps) on Sunday.
Driver - If Schralp can't drive ya, i am thinking of heading out of the Bay on Wednesday at some point. Most likely camping in the back of my truck.
And where is Dookey on this thread? Who is going to ffed me Goji Ginger Snaps all weekend?
checking in, finally (teaching the ruggers how to pizza and french fry and semi-studying up on my wedges/christies/side slides for Level 1 exams has me beat).
at any rate, i'm def down for camping, 2 days at the rezzy and 2 days of touring.
and i've added home-made chocolate to my ghetto gourmet resume (plus i've improved the ginger/goji cookies...now with more kick). i'll batch up a couple of pizza pies, too (have improved the sauce and the crust from last season).
i'll be camping fo' shizzle and will bring a Taco Mama full of firewood.
depending on snow, i'd be down for camping again at FKNA 2.5 (aka Fort Dookey), but I'm easy on wherever I park the ride.
pm me if you want some bring a friend coupons
Hey all... check out this "2 for the price of 1" day special! Good any day starting mid-April!
http://www.mammothmountain.com/stayhealthyplayhooky
The April Transworld Snowboarding magazine has a 2 for 1 coupon (2 consecutive days) on page 36. It is valid from April 19 to May 31, Mondays through Thursdays. This might be helpful if anyone plans to arrive early or stay late for the mini.
