Portillo skiing can be very cool with good snow. No crowds, Huge terrain...lots of off piste with minimal traverses and hikes. Late July/August is best for winter conditions and the corn snow in September is awesome.
Portillo nighlife is nil...small pub and nighclub in the main hotel. Ride your butt off during the day and crash at night. If you are looking for after hours fun go elsewhere...if you are looking for great off piste with no people and pretty darn good food...go to Portillo.

I was in Portillo two years in a row in August: good stuff with range from spring skiiing to powder dumps. No line ever, ever, ever.
