actually, I guess I've been pretty fortunate so far. recent travels have been on united airlines & air new zealand with above gear wrapped up in cardboard and duct tape, and later return air nz & southwest, with one board & one pair in a lightwieght snowboard bag.
all four flights, I just checked the bag. nobody even asked me what was in there. Guess I got lucky.
NEVER pack your boots in your checked bags. They are possibly the only things you can't lose on a trip. Always take them with you in the cabin.Quote:

As for packing more than one pair of skis in a ski bag, I always pack my fat skis along with my regular skis in a double ski bag. I also always try to check my bags with a curbside handler. I find if you tip them well enough, they are willing to overlook almost all airline baggage policies.

Last trip to colorado I packed my skis, poles, boots and clothes in the PMGEAR double ski bag and I didn't have any problems with checking it. It was on Northwest by the way, I also changed planes in Memphis. Just used my pack as a carry on, everything seemed to go fine.
Do you guys think that the PMgear bag will work if I take it on a plane out of the country?

Geoff - don't even sweat it with the PM Gear ski bag. I just flew BA to Munich, which had a 70 lb. limit on bag weight and had three pair of skis, three pair of poles, a backpack, tons of US ski magazines, clothes, etc., etc., etc in it. Even if the airline has a 50 lb. limit, you'll do fine. This is my first trip with that bag and I could not be more pleased to be selling it at the price we're offering it for. After comparing it to all others available I can safely say that Maggot Industries shames them all. However, we will be running out of those bags soon, as the score was on a limited quantity and we priced them to prove that PM Gear is the shit.Quote:

Been real happy with sporttube. I have the double model loaded it with two pairs of skis and checked it with a boot bag on NWA. They counted it as one piece without batting an eye. The skis fit snug in the case and there are some straps to secure them in place. Thing is bullet and gorilla proof.Quote:

Or you just through them on the plane naked. like the moron I saw on the same flight mentioned above. But..... The PMgear bag is from Nevada. I'm not sure if it will hold up to the temperatures that could be encountered in other regions.
