It is really ideal if you can add a weight to a section of the cord that is out of the way; just enough that you can pull the end down for use, and it retracts when you don't need it. ;)Quote:

My grandmother is senile and prone to wandering off when we go shopping.
I attach a beacon to her and can usually locate her in less than five minutes. I dispense with the fine search because you can usually smell the combination of piss and biscuits within a 5m radius. Prior to this I tried attaching a ski mouse to the top of her head, but this only alarmed her and caused her to foul herself at the Safeway fish counter.
This is also quite effective with roommates who have a history of trying to walk home from bars and ending up in ditches on Snow King Ave...Quote:

Old ski poles become hiking poles.
Skis are used to hang coats (tips and bindings for hooks)
Boots are bookends... well, ski mags and dvd's
Oh, and I sometimes use ski poles when wading big rivers to fish.
Edit: that sounds wrong. I don't fish with the ski pole. I use them so my silly ass doesn't slip and fall in. I fish with a cross country ski pole.

another thing is those "livestrong" type bracelets make great brake retainers. I have a boatload of Vail bracelets from ski shows, and now have a use for all of them.
i ski in leather/wool lined work gloves
i once tied my ww paddle to my kayak using nrs cam straps to create "bag" in order to get it onto a plane.
cam straps for just about everything including a makeshift leash
my goggles on the girlfriend to keep :tdo13: out of her eyes (sorry katie you stupid cunt :the_finge )
my roommate uses underarmour under his dress shirts to stay "fresh".
It's got ice tools, touring gear, power tools, skis (in the box) and even a TV that sometimes gets some channels (in French.)Quote:

Back in the day when I lived in a dorm (8x12 room) I would use an ice axe to open the door (or the fridge) without leaving bed, and a ski pole to bang on the ceiling from bed when the people upstairs were having loud sex.
I use a bunch of old skis lashed together as a firewood sled, or a sled for towing all the ice fishing stuff.
