Sounds to me (from the staggered release dates, etc.) like they have a limited amount of production capacity and they divided it among their various skis based on their best guess as to demand and they were willing to come up a few skis short and build the hype rather than end up discounting them and turning them into a commodity, but that's just a guess.

How do you know exactly how large demand is? You don't. You base your production on pre-season sales and then make a few more to satisfy special orders, but you'll never make exactly the right number every year because you're not psychic.

Many manufactures have more orders and demand than they can fill with the production limits available. A better question for Line would be to find out if there is a set production number ie 1000 pairs, or will it just be a back order backlog untill production can catch up to the orders.

Side note, from info I can recall.
Line skis have a production connection to Karhu correct?
Karhu is made in Quebec?
Our Bros ran into production problems in Quebec?
Any connections? How many ski manufactures in Quebec?
