it helps a lot.....go with the K2 recon! you will not be dissapointed. I have skied that ski in 30" of fresh untracked powder and it does fine! I have also mached down spar gulch and it holds strong on the groom. You can pick them up cheap, many sizes, good wood core, you can't go wrong!Quote:

I go to school in MI. Take a ski trip out to Colo 1-2 times a year for about a week each time. After I graduate I plan on moving out to UT or Colo to work, so it will be a lot more skiing for me next year.Quote:

I believe the Recon used to be the Axis xp. I thought it was a great ski for the groomed and highly maneuverable, but not so good in the crud. I thought the waist was a bit too thin.
I found the 80-90mm waist skis to be perfect all 'rounders

Head IM88, I ski the im85s which are good on crud, not great on groomers. From what I have read, the 88's hold a strong edge, and you get the width for everything else. If you just want to rail groomers in Michigan, go with rc4 wcs.
Volkl G4/724 AX4/whatever they're calling it these days. If you're only skiing one ski, you're going to want something that'll take abuse a bit better than the foam core crew. Decent floatation, great stability, plus it can carve on piste like a champ. Put a freeride on it if you're into it, and you've got a pretty damn good quiver of one. If not, I'm with AjaxWSP on getting a two piece binding.

Now the Volkl Vertigo G4 is the same as the Volkl G4/AX4's? I have awhile trying to find a pair online and it has been very hard. The only pair that I have come across so far is this:Quote:

Would anyone who has skied the Volkl G4/AX4's care to comment what they thought about the ski and if they would recommend it?

Second the opinion on the G4 and its many different names over the years. Great all mountain ski that can take serious abuse and not go soft after 30 days. I think it belongs in everyone's quiver.
