    What skis would you pick?

Ok heres the situation. I am getting tired of my old K2 escape 5500s and would really like to get a new pair of skis. I have been looking around for a nice all moutain ski that I can hit up some pow days with, the groomers, backcountry, some tree runs, ice, and off-piste. I haven't been too happy with my K2s, and would like to get into another brand ski (unless the new K2's are much better than the onld ones?). First of all, I can't decided how fat I want to go, but I think something in the high 70s to low 80s under foot would be optimal since these will be my primary skis. I have a pair of atomic powder pluses for the days when there is a ton of freshies also.

    Rossi B3
    Rossi B2
    Atomic Sweet Daddy
    Dynastar Legend 8000
    Salomon Scrambler Hot

Anyone with any advice or opinions to help out a mag?

Will I see a huge difference with the added width compared to the ones that I mentioned?

Ski in Colo, but I live here in Mich. I will be moving out to Utah/Colo next winter to work. I know width is a very good thing, but I have the PP at 115 underfoot, so that is plenty of width for pow days, until I can afford some new pow skis. I just want a good all around ski. I like the Karma in that they are tt, but I never go to the park.

Well maybe the right question isn't what ski would you pick, how about what ski would you recommend from what you have experienced and heard.

    Legends.
Now you decide between the 8000 or 8800.
Id most likely go with the 8800.

I guess the B3 sounds like what you want out of that short list given what you've mentioned so far. Along those lines then, why not check out a Volkl AC4, K2 Recon or even an Atomic Metron B5.... ah shit, I'm gonna get jonged for that one.

Since no one seems to be giving you what you want, cause it seems to be "cool" to pick out big skis even when there are better specific skis for your needs.

If you ski mostly in michigan, i would go with the K2 recon, if you ski mostly in CO i would go with the K2 outlaw. Both phenomenal all mountain skis.

    just my .02

I ski in the West mostly, hardly ever here in the midwest. How is the quality of the new K2 skis? I haven't been that impressed with the K2's that I have had in the past. Are they as good as European skis?

I demo'd both models I suggested. Both would be great everyday skis. I own Volkl ax4 (precurser to the karma) and last years B3. I use the B3 for deep powder & BC. The volkl is my everyday ski.

Like I said before - demo. That's the only way to find what you like.

Did you leave the Volk's flat and get a two piece binding, or did you get an integrated binding?

K2 quailty is good. I have a pair that I have 40 days on and they are still like new. I have a bunch of friends on K2s that have had no problems, and if your not putting a 100 days on a pair of boards a year, the technology will become out-dated long before you break the skis. I usually break a pair a year, I have 3 for that reason! You should be fine, you can pick up those skis for about 20% off retail, all over the internet!

I was actually going to purchase the outlaw this year, but I got a super sweet deal on a pair of Mantras

    hope that helps

OK, others around here won't like my answer because I got, HORRORS, Marker 1200 with the stiff/flex switch. It's not integrated with the ski. Frankly after skiing a couple years on it, I don't see a difference in either switch mode. It just adds weight.

as far as intergrated or 2 piece. I would only recommend the 2 piece. I have not noticed any advantage to the binding system. the 2 piece is the way to go for weight if nothing else. The saloman pilot system seems to do what it promises, but you have to ski salomans to get the binding system

I dont know if this helps, but usually I ski 55-60% off-piste and 40-45% groomers.

first thing i thought when i saw the list was there wasn't a ski there i would use if i had a choice.

maybe the 8800 if they were the only thing around.
