your quiver is off the chain by now huh?
I also want help on ski size for Vicious. This will be everyday ski which usually includes chutes, charging, cliffs, pow ect. I want to be able to manouvre it around easily. im 6' 160lbs. 179 seems a bit short and 189 a bit bit. but i was thinking if i get 189 and mount at +5 or so. what do u guys think?

I measured tip to tip in a straight line. If you measured the length of the ski flat, in other words, the length of the materials used before the tip and tail were curved up, than I can see how you might get 193. How were you measureing?
Edit: None of this really matters that much, I'm just curious how you are measureing your skis. A lot of people seem to think K2 uses a different measureing system for their skis. I'm yet to see that differnce.
i've yet to measure the SV. I'm going off of comparing the length to other skis. my 190 Igneous is a few cm shorter than the 189 SV..... I will measure it tommorow and see what I get.

My brand spanki'n new 189 SV are leaning against my bookshelf. They are the first thing I see in the morning when I wake up and the last thing I see at night before I go to bed. They taunt me every day..."Sell everything you have and become a ski bum. You can do it! You can build decks for rich people in the summer and ski on me all winter. You and me baby, we can do it together." ...It's going to be a long 6 weeks.
im in the same position as skibackwards. i think the 189 isnt too much ski for me interms of running edge and stuff, just worried about how nimble theyll be for chutes and things.Quote:

Comparing skis leads to this.....
Seth Pistols - app. 192cm
Pistols are definitely over 190. pretty close to 193, but id say 192 all told...
in running lenth yes. not not in height. i measured my k2's and height was 179 but if u put a tapemeasure down it its about 183Quote:

looking through quiver pics, the 189s look about as tall as 193 BDs, and 179s look pretty close to 184 gots.
is it running length afterall, or somewhere in between?
I will put my 79 SPs and 83 Goats back to back and let you know. This assuming the SP and SV have the same length.
If I line up my 185 race stock GS skis where the green side wall material ends{twin begins} on my 189 Vicious. The GS boards are aprox 2/3 cm longer! Id say at the absolute longest pushing it, the Vicious's are comparable to a 185 minus the twin.
For a reference on total length my 190 Nordica FFs are about 1cm maybe 2cm shorter than the Vicious tip to tail.
looks like the vicious lengths are neither running length nor total length, so the 189s are running length 184-5 and total length 192. interesting. i imagine that the 179s are 182 ish and 175ish running length, dallas i wonder if the 179 pistols still have a longer running length than the 183 gots?
Me 6' 2" and aboug 192 lbs
I posted on the 179 SV elsewhere. I love it for a one quiver ski. I took it and my 180 Explosiv to Mammoth in July and Chile in August and skied the Vicious most of the time.
Crud, heli powder, bumps, tight chutes..heck, I even ran gates and placed.
I am gettting the 189 too. Why? I'm a pig and for super high speed and straight lining I can't hurt. But for everday go with the 179.
That's my humble opinion.
Just putting them base to base and eyeballing them, I would say definitely not. Although the difference in length (height) is clearly less than the claimed 4 cms, the shovel and twin of the SP have a longer upsweep than that of the Goats. This is especially true in the tail, where the Volkl is much more sharply flared. Which I guess argues for a more centered mount on the SP/Vs... I'll post pics when I find my upload cord (if you want).Quote:
