the 2005-2006 Alpine and touring skis chapter is very interesting folkls!
Pictures from the 3 models of DP (Drake Powderworks). All blacks with a small line from different colors according to the models.
white line for the Wailer (1,76m 185 cm and 195 cm) 126-95-113mm 835gm/100cm;
green line for the Cassiar (168 cm, 178cm, 188cm): 116-80-104 mm. 835 gm / 100 cm;
And the most famous LOTUS (thin red line from tip to tail, all black): 1,76m or 1,86m 142mm-120mm-127mm. 991gm/100cm;

Lotus versus Goode 116?
Carbon 116 Goode: 1,63m or 1,83m. 138-116-123mm. 694gm/100cm length!

Goode makes lighter carbon skis. Well weigth is not all. Durability is another quality. Price? 100 $ cheaper for Lotus (880$ vs 990$)... :eek:

I have a pair of Goode C82 and DB Surreal. They are both very light skis using similar construction technology. But the Goode web site understates the weight of their skis. Don't know why that is.

Does this mean that production is all ok again? Or is it just another example of valuable publicity but with no skis to sell...

Well when you read that the carbon core is no longer made by Goode ( they ended their partnership) and that DP is trying to find another company to do it, it looks like not going very well... :o The carbon core is the most essential part of the ski you know.

By the way their website is also close to nothing. :confused:

So Sumo, Insane, Goode 116 are making progress in my buying super fat ski project. :eek:

Getting Stephan and Cyrille back together after everything that's happened.... that's an interesting idea. Both certainly have learned hard lessons. Maybe it's time for a fresh start?

A little birdie just told me that www.dpskis.com should have fresh content on or around Oct. 15.

A bird that might be a little bit bigger than schmears birdfriend told me that new definite info will arrive in a couple of weeks. But basically this is what happens: A new production facility in China is lined up, the cooperation with Goode is over (as Stephan has said previously). No new cooperation with the Cyrille Boinay. The quiver will be slightly changed; the R's and the Surreals will be identical (except the names). The Lotus will replace Tabla, it will come in 190cm with a twin tip instead of the swallow tail and most likely in one stiffness between the 25 and 29 stiffness that the tabla came in. Moreover there will be one 105 waist model. And there is also talk about a super big experimental model, but it is early days for that though. They will not promise delivery before February.

That's all, I think. Official stuff to appear in a couple of weeks.

Well it sounds like climate change!
As seen in 2005-06 Gear Guide from Couloir, there were 3 models of DP skis. Almost the same as last year except minor change on graphics (close to none anyway).
Now changes in length and sidecut in the same year.
Oh my God, it's gonna be rock n' roll that year.
I feel some headache comin' in. :eek:

The new website will be up by November 1st. The launch has been delayed due to a major manufacturing decision that occurred in the middle of August. Even with skis in the pipeline for fall under our old manufacturing arrangement, dp decided to leave its old partnership and source its own manufacturing in order to secure its long term success.

What does this mean?

It means we will take yet another short term hit in terms of deliveries, but that we will be better positioned to deliver the skis of our dreams well into the future. It's important we get this right now, instead of suffering through more delivery mediocrity later on.

When will skis be available?

There are no definite promises right now, but we hope to be delivering in good quantity by the middle of February. The new manufacturing situation will allow us get things done far more quickly than ever before, to producer faster, and with more consistent quality. We are excited about it.

Will the skis be the same?

The skis will be better. Shifting manufacturing has allowed us to redesign the entire lineup, evolve the construction, and add two more shapes to the quiver. Every shape has been tweaked, and fine-tuned into what we feel is the strongest quiver ever designed. Every tip radius, flex profile, and camber line has been engineered to fit individual ski geometry. We feel like these new skis will create a benchmark for the new era of powder skiing.

What about my existing reservation, and if I want to keep it?

Once the site launches on October 26th, you will be asked to re-key your reservation through the website or by phone so that all administrative information is current, up-to-date, and centralized. If you re-key your order before December 1st, you will maintain your current position on the reservation list, and will be the first to receive the new skis.

You can also call us at 801.413.1737 to reconfirm your order at anytime.

We are currently estimating February delivery for reservation list customers. We will build a limited number of skis for the 05/06 season, so reconfirmed reservations will ensure your spot. No deposit will be required when you re-key your reservation. However, you will need to provide all your shipping and billing information to hold your spot, and can cancel at anytime prior to your ski's shipment.
