sorry for my drift tyrone!
Once again this board has helped open my somewhat narrow mind. Thank you.
Special thanks to Telekóptero for your comments…it really made the light turn on! http://btjdesign.com/emoticons/sunny.gif
If I get my knee fixed…I can go big like the old days! Instead of progressing 5% a year, it will be 10%. :) I gotta do it next summer!
Walking out of the hospital and your speedy recovery sound inspirational but I’m not so sure that will be the case for me. I’ve heard about the cadaver option too and haven’t been able to decide which is better for my injury, patella or cadaver. When the time comes…I may try to pick your brain a little more if that’s ok.
My other excuse for putting it off (along with time off work, finding someone to drive me to and from work) is the PT part. I know how important it is and how much dedication is needed. When you’re a single dude (or married w/o kids) with plenty of free time I’m sure its easy to make this happen, but try being a father of two, I can assure you its going to be much harder. The family depends on me for certain things and it will be tough on everyone when I’m out of commission. I suspect it will be hard for many of you to relate to this.
The optimist in me however, (and thanks to some of the posts in here) knows that I can do it though…it’s not that long right? 6-10months?
The other part that opened my eyes was the arthritis part. Six years ago when the doc said I could run a risk in my late thirties and forties...I didn’t think much of it and figured I would have it fixed by then. Well guess what dumbass…you’re now 32! Get the surgery! http://btjdesign.com/emoticons/hammer.gif
Thanks again for your advice on the surgery/PT but I do think this comment is a little exaggerated though.

I wouldn’t exactly call the second pic I posted on page 1 a blue run or consider it a boring groomer. But I will admit that looking at the before and after pics I posted, I am limited in terms of size of things I can jump off. There are still ways to push yourself though, you just gotta keep it on the ground. My 80% is still better than some folks 100% and I still feel like I progress each year overall.
The point of my original post in this thread wasn’t to say Tyrone should or shouldn’t take the season off and get the surgery…it was just to show that you can still ski and ski pretty aggressive without an acl.
Now…whether that is a good idea or not is another question.
Ps. Sorry Tyrone for my thread drift. That line down the Heart is SICK! I remember the vid too. :)

skiing agressively without an acl is a very different thing in terms of the strain on the knee as opposed to snowboarding without an acl. skiing puts you acl in greater risk by a long shot.
