The fleet is close to the North End. Gotta hit some of that.
Pizzeria Regina: Best pizza anywhere outside of Brooklyn or New Haven.
Joe Tecce's: traditional italian cuisine
Mike's Pastry: tourist trap, but wicked good

They make a good cheesesteak, well...a very large cheesesteak anyways....their lobster ravioli is good as is the chicken marsala and fruti de mare (sp?)
why can I not remember the name of the mediterranean place at the beginning of salem st? right near the fish market and ernesto's? that is my favorite place to eat in the north end hands down.

i had an argument about that with Icemang back on p mag like a year and a half ago. he had never heard of it and i told him that he was wasting time waiting in a line full of tourists around the block. i had friends from new york asking me to bring them slices when i would go to visit them. i tried but they all got eaten before i hit the Merit pkwy.
i used to live at the corner of salem and parmenter. dinos or ernestos every night. monicas if i was feeling spendy. panino if i was feeling like walking more than twenty yards
edit: Vinz: avatar = wicked awsome
double edit: Bill: nice title guy.
Yeah and the last few times I've been home I can never remeber the name of the place. I'm up for the fourth, so maybe this time...
Regina is pretty damn good, though.
I'm down with their chicken pesto and chicken parm, served on nice warm, fresh bread. good stuff.Quote:

i will take you to ernestos as it seems i'll be around that whole weekend.
I'm gonna be down in Deluxebury, but my flight gets in at like 11:00 Friday, so I think I'll just head over there when I get in if you want to hook up. I'll buy.
Next you guys are gonna tell me Mr. Bartley's doesn't make the best burgers around.
Uhhhmm, I think I will step in and tell you that Boston cannolis blow.
Sorry.
That super-cheesey filling they use is just wrong. I probably haven't had a Boston cannoli in 15 years because they scare me. Just about any joint in Little Italy can do better. I'm all about giving Boston props when deserved (Wings, Regina's, Herrell's, Bartley's, chowdah), but Boston is to Cannoli what New York is to clam chowder.
what about manhattan clam chowder?Quote:

That's what I was talking about. Calling that red stuff chowder is like...well, it's like something that just ain't right.
hey, not trying to step on your pastries mang. don't get your ricotta in a bunch. you can get the americanized chocolate or vanilla filling in boston too. but cheesy is the sicillian way my friend.Quote:

History of cannoli
As with Sicilian cassata, also Sicilian cannoli probably date back to the time of Arab dominion. They are traditionally prepared for festivities at Carnival time (though nowadays they are to be found all year round); they consist of a fried, rolled-up wafer, filled with sweetened ricotta cheese, candied fruit and chocolate drops. They should be eaten when just newly made. Also essential, the filling must be inserted into the shells shortly before they are sold, otherwise they can become humid and are no longer crunchy; it is precisely this contrast between the softness of the runny filling and the fragrance of the shell that makes these little pastries so exquisitely delicious.
[cue Dennis Hopper and Christopher Walken]
so you're telling me there is Moore's blood in the cannolis ?
Heh. I love the internet (sometimes).
Sicilians
written by Quentin Tarantino
Cliff: Now, wait a minute and listen. I haven't seen Clarence in three years. Yesterday he shows up here with a girl, sayin' he got married. He told me he needed some quick cash for a honeymoon, so he asked if he could borrow five hundred dollars. I wanted to help him out so I wrote out a check. We went to breakfast and that's the last I saw of him. So help me God. They never thought to tell me where they were goin'. And I never thought to ask.
Coccotti: Sicilians are great liars. The best in the world. I'm a Sicilian. And my old man was the world heavyweight champion of Sicilian liars. And from growin' up with him I learned the pantomime. Now there are seventeen different things a guy can do when he lies to give him away. A guy has seventeen pantomimes. A woman's got twenty, but a guy's got seventeen. And if you know 'em like ya know your own face, they beat lie detectors to hell. What we got here is a little game of show and tell. You don't wanna show me nothin'. But you're tellin' me everything. Now I know you know where they are. So tell me, before I do some damage you won't walk away from.
Cliff: Could I have one of those Chesterfields now?
Coccotti: Sure.
Cliff: Got a match? Oh, don't bother. I got one. So you're a Sicilian, huh?
Coccotti: Uh-huh.
Cliff: You know I read a lot. Especially things that have to do with history. I find that shit fascinating. In fact, I don't know if you know this or not, Sicilians were spawned by niggers.
Coccotti: Come again?
Cliff: It's a fact. Sicilians have nigger blood pumpin' through their hearts. If you don't believe me, look it up. You see, hundreds and hundreds of years ago the Moors conquered Sicily. And Moors are niggers. Way back then, Sicilians were like the wops in northern Italy. Blond hair, blue eyes. But, once the Moors moved in there, they changed the whole country. They did so much fuckin' with the Sicilian women, they changed the blood-line for ever, from blond hair and blue eyes to black hair and dark skin. I find it absolutely amazing to think that to this day, hundreds of years later, Sicilians still carry that nigger gene. I'm just quotin' history. It's a fact. It's written. Your ancestors were niggers. Your great, great, great, great, great-grandmother was fucked by a nigger, and had a half-nigger kid. That is a fact. Now tell me, am I lyin'?
i'm just patting myself on the back for picking up your Reference so quickly.
I'm patting myself on the back for making such an erudite reference.

a guy I know opened his second "crazy dough" location somewhere in Harvard Square recently. Damn good pizza, try the bbq chicken, taco or potato/bacon pizzas. Plus he stocks good hot sauce...or at least he did at the one around the corner from my old place on Boylston st.
what the hell is this thread about again??? I'm lost
dood we have this thing called the SUBWAY - If you are in Medford, you simply go to the Oak Grove Orange Line station, give them $1, they give you a token, you put it in the turnstyle, walk downstairs and take the rattler right to North Station in less than 10 minutes..Quote:
