C44 is literally 5.5' wide
Have fun at tamayo. I like going there when somebody else is payin.

tamayo was fun
highlights of the RW menu I think were definitely the butternut squash soup, braised short rib, and the banana empanada.
the seemingly bottomless pitcher of sangria didnt hurt either. :)
everything was pretty good though
Id saw the RW $ value was pretty high looking at the regular menu as well.
North was above average? It was definitely satisfactory, but I can't say I was blown away. Ms. Mitch B and I had the same meal... First was calamari on spinach with some sort of balsamic drizzle. The calamari was excellently cooked but there was a shitload of pepper on them. Next, Ahi Tuna with some mixed greens. Tuna was big and fat and nicely done. There was some sort of bed of tomato sauce/goop (this is probably not the technical food term for it)... it was great. Really complimented the fish nicely. The greens were meh. Decent, but nothing spectacular. Finally, nutella flourless chocolate cake. This was pretty ridiculously rich and was served with some kinda chocolate berry sauce and a glob of whipped creme on top. The mint leaf looked nice but didn't serve any purpose.
Server was attentive and the space was nice. The RW menu was definitely a good deal, but it's actually more food than we would typically order.
Review on Luca d'Italia tomorrow.
i have to make a recommend my favorite restaurant:
240 union - get the pork chop - it is the best meal in denver.
My wife and I went to the Fort on Sunday and were completely underwhelmed.
If I had only known there was a full fledged geek out at Tamayo last night I could have at least said hello, as I was there as well. Me and the wife tried to tackle the entire RW menu. Question of actual value realized during restaurant week was not settled by wife and I. After you throw in 5 drinks and tip it ain't rock bottom pricing, but certainly cheaper than you would otherwise get out the door for.
Appetizer:
Tamal > ceviche
Main:
Beef Short Rib > Salmon
Dessert:
Empanada > flan
The one thing that will stick with me from the night: The simple Michelada Tamayo does. I realize this is no great discovery, but it was excellent none the less and new to me. Generous shot of Lime juice, slice o lime, tecate, ice cubes, salted glass. I could, and will, guzzle those this summer like water.
We took a long shot and attempted to get at Kevin Taylor. I figured it was a good idea to go for the most hoytee toytee restaurent in Denver. Of course they are booked solid for the next sixteen years. The guy on the phone with smarmy accent took pity on us and sent a coupon for a $52.80 meal that is good for the rest of the year. I thought that was very cool of them.
How do you spell hoytee toytee and smarmy?
fkna^
thats one hell of a way to get a customer (probably a repeat one now as well.)
props to them for sure
and on another note
When will 5280/Denver realize they should do this twice a year, with the other time being in summer?
restaurants don't have the same trouble filling covers during the summer.
Rad of RKT to send that cupon though, damn!
well then they can charge 52.80 per person and really do it up really spectacular! :)
(include another course or add on wine pairings etc)
but yea, we never really do need an excuse to go out in the summer, youre right there.
I just thought it might be nice for them to showcase a Winter & Summer menu, and also be able to enjoy the other aspects of certain restaurants that have awesome patio or outdoor seating (ie Chinooks little below street patio, Tamayo's upstairs patio, or whatever)
Hey, I'd take advantage of it for sure. BTW - went to the brickhouse. Brisket was reeel good. Hotlinks = fair. Pulled Pork = really disappointing. I'd defintely go back for the beef so it can go into the win category.
bummer to hear about their other stuff at brickyard
we've only ever had the brisket, steak fries, and iced tea though.
im not the pulled pork connoisseur, but my lady is, and shes never truly been happy with pulled pork outside of Macon, GA. Some good here or there, but nothing as solidly consistently amazing. according to her at least. (Old Clinton and Finchers in particular, Satterfields not so much) She considers eating pork a hobby apparently, hehe.
M&Ds in the Points, imho, is the best BBQ in the city--including pulled pork.
I'll add that both myself and the future-Mrs. Rontele had a great time at the nerd fest at Tamayo. I thought the ceviche was excellent--the highlight of my meal--though Mrs. Rontele's soup was superb.
PP takes too long to cook for 99% of restaurants to even attempt decently. And in Colorado people have no idea what a vinegar sauce is so you can't even have the correct condiment. I'll try to remember to include you two in Porkathon 08. My PP isn't world class by any stretch of the imagination but it is made with a lot of love and care and smoke.
i dont see pulled pork on M&D's menu
they say sliced
shes seen their menu and is skeptical of anyplace that advertises and serves their bbq sliced. we will however go there now undoubtedly
what about outside the city but near?
that place in Conifer? I thought you said something about Q4U in Summit being good too.
she'd drive 100mi im sure for good pulled pork like what shes used to.
and those are my favorite
So I'm debating between AIX tonight and Chinook Tavern, any recommendations either way? I need to make up for valentines day blunders with the lady.
can't go wrong.
Chinook > Aix
Chinook it is then, in your opinion what were the highlights of the 5280 menu?
Duck & Jaegerschniztle fo sho.
Good too know, definitely looking forward to tonight, thanks for the help!
