Yeah- excuse for a nice dinner! Anyone know if the $52.80 hotel rooms still exist downtown? Mr. MG and I were able to stay at the Oxford right before christmas at Mile High Holiday rate- was an awesome deal.

just through Jan. it looks. (edit- denver.org again)

    rome-
I'd suggest to you that the point of the exercise is to try something totally new to you although, one of the resers we have is at the chinook which the mayor of tech talk recco'd, we've been to and is awesome.

But really, look through the menus and decide what looks good. We went through every one (10mins tops), selected those that sounded good and then re-viewed each to make the final cut (going to 3 this year). We even discarded a couple that looked great but that we've already been to.

Take a look at the Denver restaurant thread in Tech Talk.

I'm disappointed to see that Fruition is not on the list. I've been wanting to check them out for a while now.

I'm anxious to go back to Table 6, Zengo, and Limon. We should try something new though.

Chinook Tavern is a favorite of mine. Their featured menu is just OK in my opinion and Id rather order from the full menu though.

Buenos Aires grill is good too and has live flamenco\guitar on thursday (highly reccomend). We did this last year and really enjoyed ourselves.

lots of other good ones too
just click on them and see what appeals to you
    try something new

i also like to compare the value of the 52.80 to what each item costs on the menu
    cause im cheap like that

table 6 is good, but parking there is non existant. try AIX, tell shannon i sent you. she's quite the chef, and that place is within walking distance of downtown, if you don't mind stopping at a couple bars along the way.

Rioja is amazing. This is a great time to try it. I'm looking at Vendome, Kevin Taylor, and Mizuno.

Parking? Who needs parking, I'll just walk there.

There is usually plenty of parking between 6th and 4th on Corona.

Jeebuz! Don't go to Rodizio for Restaurant week. They have jello on their salad bar. Its like a step up from Hard Rock Cafe but with "gauchos" serving salty meat off swords.

I really wish they'd have the decency to do this during the summer. Or atleast the shoulder season.

that's quite the listing of restaurants.

i can walk there too, and you can usually park in the safeway lot, but remember, the city is tearing the shit out of corona right now between 6th & 4th, with many parking restrictions.

rioja is good, i liked their apps better than the main course tho.

I was to Il Fornaio in Denver ~4 years ago. It was very good from what I can remember. I was a little ticked about the $$ though. I took a girl out on a first date to Jax across the street for Oysters. After sucking a few of those down she suggests we go across the street for Italian and proceeds to order a few bottles of wine to go with her Filet.

their menu looks good, but it is lame that there is additional charge for a number of items on the menu, kind of defeats the point.

Restaurant Kevin Taylor was the tits last night.

Also went to Mizuna for V-day (so no 52.80 ), thought Kevin Taylor was a bit better with the food, and ambiance was also better (Mizuna was really nice, but the bathroom was convenience store quality in decor and cleanliness, and there is just no excuse for that, it really turns you off to the idea of fine dining).

    Recap:

Sat - Chinook Tavern with wife, Mom & Step Dad-

Again the Chinook delivers the goods. They have EXCELLENT food and were serving up a really strong menu for the Restaurant Week ("RW") dollar.

    Mon - 9th Door with wife -

Ooooppppssss this was a fuckup. Shitty value for the RW$. We just ended up ordering what we actually wanted off the menu and saved some $. The food was however really decent and it's possible to get a really good meal here for the $ (eg: a good $/quality ratio). Nice selection of cured meat dishes. The flan was really great.

The service however fucking BLEW. It's been a long time since I was served in such a slow and lacksadasical manner. 20 minutes to get us our water, 25 to get my first glass of wine, 35 minutes to order…WTF? They weren't even out and out busy. But…the food was good so I'm sure we'll go back. Just on a mon-tues-wed.

    Wed - Corridor 44 with wife -

Another little RW$ messup (I just added mine up and it was $3 more expensive during RW). And while it may seem like I'm focused on the RW$ I'm really not, we went only based on menus and probably wouldn't have gone to the last two places but for RW.

That said, the food at C44 is really solid and hits a great everyday $/quality ratio. My wife's chicken was brined and perfectly roasted.

Prides itself on being a champagne bar but they have a sweet bar stock in general (had me a boddy's draught which you don't see every day), pretty rad champagne/sparkling wine selection. While the retrosexual in me sez that it's pretty soy, it recognizes that on a Friday/Saturday night this place would be quite the hunting ground. Of the 40 people (staff incl) in there last night 35 were women. 25 of those were decidedly "not ugly."

A full-fledged internet nerd gathering is in store for RW tonight at tamayo. In attendance, such nerds as:

myself, the future Mrs. Rontele (though she currently is in bed with a fever), the Mayor of Tech Talk, the Mayor of Tech Talk's squeeze, bedtime4bonzo, and bedtime4bonzo's squeeze.

    full report later.

And although this is not the appropriate thread, I ate at Fruition on saturday night for the first time. The food was excellent, if not what I was quite expecting. More gourmet than anything else. The service was good, but arrogant, and they quite literally have the most cramped restaurant space I've been to in quite some time.
