Damn fine photos BCR... when a photo makes you say, "I wish I was there", you've captured the moment(s) well. Thanks for sharing. I'm impressed all you guys have the patience to wait in a location away from your buddies while they get into position for the shots... I'd be jonesin' too hard to get my turns in. Patience must be the mark of a true photographer.

i bailed on my bud's dawn patrol on tallac today but the word is that spring creek rd is open but you are only supposed to park in designated pullouts. meaning get there early or don't park on spring creek so you don't fuck it up for everyone as this is just on a trial basis this year so it will be closed again next year if folks don't pay heed to the new rules. i hear coverage was better then anticipated and watch out for sucker skintracks. the snopack stability may be questionable as well w/ this heavy snow on top of lighter snow. play it safe and go get it.

ok, since your reading comprehension must suck, PARK ONLY IN DESIGNATED PULLOUTS. meaning if a pullout isn't already plowed, don't park in it. if all the designated parking areas are full, don't just make a new one but actually drive back to hwy 89 and park in the designated pullouts back there. so, unless you want to skin up from hwy 89, GET THERE EARLY!!!!

Pretty stable dump last night. And it was a dump, meaning it was heavy. But it skied very fun on fat skis. We had to paste new tracks all over the Echo Summit car drop. Not sure this mornings venture counts as b.c., but it was cool anyway. Figured folks might be interested in snow conditions. We could still see, and sort of feel, the old tracks below since the dump was only 1' or so. The base is still uber deep and soft below last nights dump. So go get the pow before the January thaw sets in by the weekend. Rain in the forecast for tomorrow. I'm actually hoping that storm misses us.

I am planning a trip to do Job's peak down to the valley floor. Was wondering if anyone on here has done it and may have any helpfull info on the trip. Where to park @ the bottom, general stuff? i am a sponge

But then again, the shots make me cringe knowing how the conditions are skiing at the moment.
fuck yeah nuthon. get'r done. i was gonna nail that soon as well until the rain quelched my inspiration. still worthy even if the snow is shit though so don't let me talk you out of it. to ski jobs proper (jaws couloir to jobs canyon) parking seems sketch at best due to the massive development of trophy homes at the base of jobs canyon so i can't advise of a parking spot near there. if you are gonna park there to hike straight up it, i'd advise maybe getting permission from a landowner to park on the street in front of their house if youn see someone out and about. i know folks also hit it from luther pass via horse meadows which knocks off a couple grand of vert but it adds approach mileage and you still need to leave a car at the base of jobs canyon unless you wanna hitch. i've still never skied jobs proper but i have skied the subpeak of jobs that has 2 $$$ lines that hold way better steeper vert for longer. jobs proper is steep for 2,000' but then mellows as you go out the canyon while the subpeak holds about 4-4,500' of constant steep fall line and is unrivaled by anyhting locally and remininiscent of eastside descents. to hit that, park in the designated faye canyon trailhead and then cross the flats bearing slihghtly toclimbers right until you hit a really obvious slide path. then just skin right up the path choosing to stay on the main path or the climbers left branch and keep on keepin on. i've skied the climbers left path and it was one of the best runs of my life w/ 4,000' of shin to boot deep pow 3 years ago. either one is great though and you can't miss looking at them when you're in g'ville. have fun and please report back whatcha find up there.
anyone been skiing any bc corn yet in the basin???? thinking about going corn hunting tomorrow late morning after a work commitment and curiouis if the pack has consolidated enough for more then the top inch to be in a freeze/thaw cycle.
Plan is to sled in from Luther Pass as far as we can. Then start are assent from there. Fornutatley i have some friends with sleds that don't mind the shuttle up for some gas $$$$. Parking at the bootom was my biggest worry. Especially with the giant trophy homes. It looks like there is a forest service access road that goes up the canyon, is that correct? Might help on the ride out. I know the other lines that you're referring to but i gotta do this because i've stared at it for so f-ing long now. I pulled up a couple of Google Earth Shots.

From what i can find Peak is @ 10,633' and the best parking is at 5,373' so total of about 5,260'.

Found the whole gammut of conditions this weekend. Saturday did a few laps off the crest down to Donner lake. That bit of snow we got early sat a.m. put a nice moderately dense layer of fluff on top of a thin rain crust. East/lee faces were worth the hike back up for a few extra runs of fun skiing while it was in the sun. But we skied a little too long into the day and ended up survival skiing the crusty mank down low especially once it started refreezing around 3:30.
Sunday the frog lake cliffs delivered. Once again the E faces had a nice bit of fluff and porn on top of carvable crust. Not too bad. Planned to skin over to Castle and hit the central chute since it was looking nicely filled in but the long skin across Coon Valley put us a little behind schedule and we were afraid we'd catch it at the refreeze cycle so we bailed and skied some nice blower pow on NE treed slopes in Coon canyon maybe 8K or so. I was surprised at how many decent patches of wintery snow we were able to ski.
South faces back to the car were starting the corn cycle, fun but still a little mushy. Later in the week should be $$$ on N shore, maybe S shore will be a little ahead since I don't think they got much of Sat snow(?).
Go git it Nuthon! I planned to do that tour a few years back but Jaws was bulletproof when we got there so we traversed out to Jobs Point and down Gimpy's line instead. I remember looking back from Jobs and thinking a ridge traverse of freel->jobs sister->jobs and down jaws would be a loooong but proud day. Might be a sweet time for it if you got the sled assist and a hinkering to suffer a bit.
well shit, since you're not gonna be hiking for shit thanx to the 2 stroke assist, ya might as well ski jaws and then hike back up and nail the subpeak. then you'll have worry free parking at the faye canyon trailhead and one or 2 of the coolest lines you'll ever ski. the usual worry about that plan is the avy danger in hiking back up to the subpeak from jaws but w/ avy danger not much of a worry (i'd think) its a perfect time for the double hit. after all, tomorrow is twofer tuesday.
word on the street is that the "great mtn" is holding nice pow on the top 3/4 of a lesser known line. off to investigate for a dp manana so the corn hunt is on hold for another day.
