I haven’t skied my Black Ops 118s in chopped up pow yet, but did compare them to 184 Deathwishes in deep slush at Mammoth this spring and the BO118s are way more damp and happy to plow through anything. They are, of course, also less nimble than the Deathwishes, but if you want the monster truck feel, they seem to nail that.

And no, SnowMachine, a +2300 gram ski just skis the difficult snow for you. Sure, they are heavy underfoot, but the weight is a lot less noticable at speed and their mass means that you do not have to do all of the work like you would have to on lighter skis. I simply do not comprehend why so many people ski bent120 and similar skis in resorts, especially where the snow is on the denser side of things. Light skis are fun, but they make you do ALL of the work when you are not in the air.

I just want to come with a confession that I didn't really weigh myself over the winter, and when I was saying 175lbs, I was really 190lbs.... tubby.
No wonder they bend so easy :-) I'm back on the program, so hopefully I can be reporting about the performance at 160lbs next winter. Fighting weight is 155, jesus!
It's pretty incredible how being thick doesn't fuck with your skiing, I had some career performance highs this winter, even if I was wishing that Gore-Tex was stretchy...
I will defend the BC120 in dense snow, the flex and shape of that ski really have magical qualities for the weight. As far as skis that don't make sense: the BO118 is the heavyweight champ, BC120 is the Undisputed Featherweight Champion of the World (pre this year).

the new pivots are nice. I do agree. The blue steel color is also nice. Just don’t like the letter style they used on it. But that’s trivial at best. If you do get the skis you better only be drinking out of these.Quote:

I'm sure it's a phenomenal ski, but anytime the graphic designers isolate their customer base, there's gonna be feedback.
I wouldn't be able to own this ski because it looks like Taco Bell to me. Or-- maybe I could convince myself to come around and embrace the fact that I ate taco bell everyday after school in the 90's.
Kinda like Key Lime Pie, or blue cheese... It grows on you.
Gaijin, I love that colorway. Flamboyant, but totally puts my mind at ease. I want a house in the Florida Keys and a boat with that paint job when I'm flush. You're all invited down in the summer.
I finally got a pair of the 98s. Lone Pine in SLC had some 2022 192 Holy Shreds with NX 12 Demo bindings, in excellent shape for $149 plus ship. Way too good of a deal to pass up, I love Lone Pine. I've browsed on their site every couple weeks for years now, but this is my first order.
I've been thinking about buying the 192 98s for a while now, easily putting multiple hours into research on info I already "knew". Wasting time, therefore wasting $$$, overthinking analysis paralysis. Also debating them against M6 Mantras lately. Finally I found the deal I was waiting for, made it all worth it. If I really like, them I'll grab a backup set before they are gone.
PSA: Lone Pine still has some crazy demo ski deals left, in a bunch of different sizes. I'm still tempted by a few, but I've blown my wad for the year.

Just bought a pair of BO118s and they should be exactly what I'm looking for.
SF110s @ 184cm (straight pull ~182) felt WAY too short mounted on the line with fresh snow and were too light, but were fun in the park.
On the other hand, SF110s @ 191cm (straight pull around 188 I think) felt a bit too long for my liking if I was trying to be playful and incorporate butters or ski in the trees -- which there are a lot of here, both steep and mellow on the way back to the chair after more serious lines. Very solid and composed when it came to the steeps, cliffs, and throwing 3s & backies. Probably should have tried detuning the tips and tails but I'm an idiot and didn't think of that until I took my bindings off.
I've been reading everyone's experiences with the BO118 and trying to figure out where I'm going to mount them...
Feeling like I may go -1 from the forward line, which would put me in similar territory to the SF mount points.
Landing switch in deep snow is important to me, so i don't want to sacrifice that, but also want to avoid how the 184cm SF110s felt.
Thoughts?
Nice! I was down in Southern Florida for 6 weeks during the tail end of this spring. I love Miami and the Keys so much, I've spent a lot of time there. These colors are much more popular in that area, so maybe that also has something to do with my love for them.Quote:

The Holy Shreds look fun! Definitely a lot softer in hand than Wildcat 108s, both torsionally and longitudinally. Hand flexing can sometimes mean jack squat tho. I wanted softer tho, the Wildcats aren’t as buttery as I want in a true “freestyle” twin.
I can see how the HShreds should offer more vibration damping, they have that rubbery feel, but I’ll be surprised if they are actually as stable as WC at highest speeds. If they are anywhere close I’ll be very happy, but I also don’t mind trading a little stability for that buttery feel in certain skis.
I loved 187 Menace 98s, but those were slightly short for me (but fun), and these remind me of a longer version. Definitely are flatter, and seem more damp than old Kung Fujas.
I want a more fun, less precise version of M4 Mantra that can ski switch better, and these seem exactly that. First day of the season I’ll be experimenting with these Holy Shreds
I will be surprised if BO98s are not more stable than WC108sa at mach schnell. A lot of their perceived "softness" comes from the rubber tips/tails - at least on my pair - aka the parts ahead/aft of the contact points that are not particularly stout, yet the softness forward/aft of the contact points does not translate to noodlyness on snow in my experience. No, they are no beasts, but still fairly stable - especially for what they are. They are fairly supportive underfoot.Quote:

I love my 180 Season Aero 96…which are -3.5 mount, pretty much full camber, straight pull at 179.
Anyone got a straight pull on the 2024 182 BO98? I seem to remember reading on Blister the old 182 Holyshred 98 was 179.2?

I think I got a stiff/heavy pair of WC108s, slightly more than average. I have nothing major to base that on, besides my experience on them versus everyone else's I read about. I find my WC108s super stable like comp skis, almost as fast as my Katana 108s (WC are more “predictable” at those high speeds too with the longer radius). WC108s definitely not the most damp ski, but damp enough for me to never complain anywhere on the mountain in any condition.Quote:

The video of the BO98 the dude is ripping. They were my cheapest ski purchase this season, but my most intriguing. Glad I got some demo binders on them to figure out mount point too. First day of the season I’ll be on Holy Shreds
Based on what I’ve seen over the years, I think these skis would be right up your alley. It seems like you enjoy progressive, loose but stable skis, and these seem like that.Quote:
