Umm, what are you smoking?
I just came back from the best BC powder highway trip ever and looks like Meadows is in its usual form. I can’t help but notice how efficient other resorts operate in comparison. Can preventive maintenance be done after the resort closes? What the heck does it even mean “lack of power”? With “feets” of snow at home mountain and I’m already planning to go back up north… Hoping to get at least one decent day/experience at Meadows this week before I head on out.
Theres 5 full weeks of Skiing left atHM, then 2 weekends. The only 2 main chairs they run are MHX & Cascade on the last 2 weekends.
It would take a catastrophic mechanical issue for Cascade to not run through closing day
Got in a few laps this morning before work duties had me on my way.It felt like a Saturday pow day on the mountain. The Fast Tracks line at Pine this morning was out to the end of the pen. I'm sure it came in handy later at NWX but had to leave before it opened. As the saying goes, it's better than nothing.https://i.ibb.co/j9LBSHhd/TB-3-17-25.jpg
Fatality reported yesterday at Bachelor, 34 yro from Seattle from snow emersion/tree well burial. Stay safe out there.
Very sad. DCSO posted this on their Facebook page yesterday.

In most cases I'd rather have 3 x 8" days in a row than a single 24" day with 36+" deep windloaded pockets.
Pretty nice day at MHM. Good viz, had to do shuttle laps for Heather/PR but it was worth the trip.
Sad situation. Seems like someone dies in a tree well every year at Mt B.
Ugh, rode the lift with a dude who was storm chasing from Seattle yesterday. He looked to be in his mid-30's. He was asking about beta for the Northwest side of the hill if NWX got spinning. Patrol was stationed all over the place along with the lifties telling people to ride with a partner and be aware of tree wells and that snow immersion dangers were very high. I think we are on 6 tree well/immersion deaths in 7 years at Bachelor.
On a lighter note…
Yesterday, before this tragic event, before the NWX chair even opened…
A snowboarder decided to poach the zone. Note that it hadn’t opened for 2-3 days due to heavy snow and wind. Like 3’ plus wind transport.
He got stuck in deep snow, couldn’t move.
So he called ski patrol to come get him out.
Patrol laughed at him, told him he needed to self extract
So he sat in the snow and posted on the Facebook Mt Bachelor Conditions page that he needed recommendations for a lawyer to sue for butthurt or something.
The responses were pretty hilarious. Too bad it’s all been deleted.
Gonna visit bachy W/Th if folks are around. Kid rips & I am hella slow

Meadows delivered today! Pretty much untracked and semi-tracked runs all day long… got lucky with timing as the gates popped and no lines with lifts spinning without a hitch.
Wind howling and snow coming down, but really tough viz at Bach today
Lifts at half speed made for slow laps
Clear enough to see patrol doing control work on the number bowls
Sure hope the wind dies down — flags are at full attention & no lift in view is spinning right now
And day is done…fukkkk
Back went out on lap two
Last day I’ve got E home too
Ugh!
Bummer dude, sometimes you eat the bar, and sometimes …
At least it still beats ending your day due to an ACL issue!
Time to enjoy town? High Desert Museum usually has better weather if you wanna kill some time doing something other than town. Big Obsidian Flow at Paulina is also super rad to check out for the geology nerds.
Thx, but back at MHM today
It’s turned into a gorgeous spring day
Skiing Bachelor Friday - Wednesday weather snow depending. As said earlier itll be my 1st visit in about 30 yrs. Im a little worried to see the changes but super excited to get out & see your beautiful state. Staying in Bend. Any thoughts/ideas appreciated but certainly not necessary. Otherwise, if you see us on the mountain say hello. If you see Magic Mountain VT. logos thatll be us. Purple pants with black ripsticks will be me too.
Edit to add of course we will be complete tourists & ski the cone. Do i really need an uphill pass for this sort of thing? Or do you still just bomb down the run & see how high up you can get? Bootpack from there.
snow elevation coming down again after the weekend
keep faith that ski season is not over
