Guy on skilift next to me at Les Sybelles (France)
He just came out of the shop with a pair of rental Rossignols
"Damn scammers gave me two right skis!" (R-logo on the tips)
how do you get to moonbeam basin from here?
"Are those skis good for jumping?"
Snowboarder on gondola: "Man, those are some interesting fat skis you have"
Me: (Riding 190 Moment Bibbys): Ya, thanks, they are lots of fun.
Snowboarder: What size are they? I used to ride 203's when i skied and they are definitely making them shorter these days.
Me: 190 but I should really go longer next time.
He is probably right though and reads TGR..
Liftline for quad chair feeding from two sides, each with a singles line.
front of line opposite my group of 4 and with their turn to load before us are 2 middle aged guys.
2 snowboarders step up out of the singles line to make a full chair.
One of middle aged guys loudly states, "hey I'm not riding with a damn snowboarder... these are new skis and I don't want them to get scratched!"
He at least has the good manners to allow the somewhat shocked snowboarders to ride up as a two.
But then he and his buddy push forward to ride the next chair.
So we cut him off... left him cursing at us... so we waited at the top for him. He, and his shiny new skis pushed off, and disappeared.
Tosser.

What to do with free ski blades. Forgot about them, but the heart carve thread rekindled my memory. Got some funny looks, but that is normal for me.
Is that a tele binding? Because mounting them tele was going to be my suggestion. Looks like you're already there.
Had to look up tele snowlerblades: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cIhMZucK6sw
Pinners and Asolo Extreme Plus leather boots.
Really wanted to start a thread in gear about mounting ski blades with pin bindings... If I should go + or - 2mm of boot center ;)
Love being a goofball. Love it even more when people think I am serious.
Someone behind me at the liftline on a powder day at Snowbowl was telling his buddy that he needed to keep his knees together "like riding a monoski. Unless you have skis as big as a monoski like that" he might have been pointing to my Rubies, but I'm not the only one using big skis for all mtn. And they weren't the fattest there that day.
I just looked back and said something like What? No. I had my headphones in, and even without, I wasn't gonna try to give someone a ski lesson.
Yeah, this guy was definitely old enough to have skied for a long time needing to keep his knees touching.
The "hands out bad advice" guy is always the best.
Speaking of TeleSkiers(not there's anything wrong w/ that)rode up the chair w/ 2. Tele1 and tele2. They had all the shit. No doubt BC'ers. So we off load tele1 poles down the ramp and around the corner. Me liking to keep a low profile swing a wide GS turn to the outside. Head down the choke towards the face and tele1 is doing some sort of 360 spinner in the choke. He got railed..........
a fellow adaptive instructor had this happen to him the other day.
Gaper
"what kinda of skis are those"
Instructor
"volkl bridges"
gaper
"do I need skis like those to ski with out poles?"
Instructor
"I am only skiing without poles because I am tethering a bi-ski"

Pre GoPro hockey helmet camera mount and duct tape mount on the skis. "We have the best bar with a ski lift".
We have way too much fun on 310' vert.
Seriously my front yard is bigger than that. Commitment...........:yourock:
Current (not mine) hill record is 100 runs in a day. You should see what we consider "backcountry" out here. Some of my fav. runs are 7 turns. Love getting out west, but gotta work with what you got! Anyway back to gaper chat. I leave you with this:

Good night, and be kind.
Just make sure you keep your knees touching.
OK I think I have one finally. I hope it measures up, but it's all i got.
So at the top of the T bar yesterday and me and buddy have our packs on and we're just about to drop into the valley bottom, then we're going to climb the other side, ski cats, come back down no socks and climb back up to the ski area. Not a huge day but a day just the same. And, ski conditions were possibly sporty.
A stranger comes up to me (no pack) and says, "can I ski with you?"
I say, not unless you've got a way back up, we're skiing down and then up and out.
He says "I've got skins"
I say what kind of skier are you
He says "expert"
I say well, do you know how to dig someone out?
He says "yes"
I say do you know how to find someone?
He says "yes"
I say do you know how to use a beacon?
He says "I don't have one".
that's it, sorry...
I did chuckle at the end of the day with buddy though.
Learned two things on the lift today at Breck from a gaper: Breck has back bowls and twin tips are new technology!
@ Mahogany Ridge w/ a few friends having our first Beer. I spy a couple of ol ski pals drifting in so we put our Goggles on. Got some funny looks and no it didn't work,it was more like a magnet. I bought the next round.
