Quite stirring.
Beuller?
I’m still pretty bummed I didn’t get in on the Lhasa deal, but in all honesty it didn’t quit stir my insides enough to drop that kind of coin (still really really jealous for sure). But the Kusala absolutely does, that thing gets made I’m all in, and to boot I get to support my all time favorite cosmic genius master of skis maker that might just really need a some support right now... fuck yes I’m in. Just make sure it meets mag standards, pretty please

Sounds pretty cool. Would love to see a kusala-renegade type ski come out of this
This is very cool indeed. I'd like to see something even more pintail than the lhasa as well as some new touring shapes. The current ones are very versatile but the removal of the custom options mean you can't just turn every ski into a touring build which was super attractive for me personally.
So the TGR model of build something crazy for us is on? I think? 194 RX? All Rocker Super Freerides? Those would get me interested.

Only need 6 people for a design
Sorry if this has been answered already (couldn't read the whole thread - got a life and all), but what are said recent events? All I know is: no custom sale this coming spring. Which is a minor bummer. But are prospects grim for praxis, or...what gives?
Would hate to see anything bad happen - Keith & co. seem like awesome folks, and pretty sure I'd buy another pair or more.
Basically Praxis is no longer doing custom skis/ski sale and liquidating their current inventory. Future is uncertain for the company but I think the experimental ski concept being introduced is a good sign.

It has to be hard to have a direct to consumer sales model in the skiing industry. How many people buy what has a shiny sticker from some BS ski review on it that’s on the wall at a ski shop?
Then again I never really saw new Praxis skis for sale for cheap at the end of the season, so maybe it was working, but Keith wants to change it up?
It’s cool to see the Praxis guys sticking to their ethos as a company and not caving to what will make the most money.

Not sure how the Tele will translate, but I found my stock 187 MVPs to ski very short *in the front* (that 99cm camber length!) so I bumped back to -1cm mount point and was happy: was good enough for icy opening hour, and still killed anything soft off piste.
As a good comparison for you, I found the 187 MVP front engagement point to be closer to boot when compared to my 188 Quixote, and so the MVP felt much more pivoty and loose in the front then the Q. If you nerd out a bit (duh...) the outside of the MVP and Q are the same for taper point dimensions, so there was a bit of family resemblance when I jumped up to the Q.
Damn! I'm getting whiplash with my cash flow forecast for gear expenditures. NTTAWWT.
A Q without asym (24-25 radius) could be an awesome ski (because you can't have too many skis in the 11x range).
Maybe I'm just talking about an Rx. Paging Doctor Alpy.
... Thom
A keep the asymmetrical nature of the Q have it with no camber?
That would be interesting.

I am in for a kusala in a tour layup. When I saw the experimental ski page, I thought about a fully rockered tour layup ski. Subtle rocker line. Taper point somewhere between the renegade and protest and a long ass radius

Nice sale going on at Praxis. Check it out
So fucking pissed i didnt get a custom RX while I could.
Im in for the kusala if its 191.
A number of peeps have been down with a kusala reboot. I say we make it happen.

My proposal for a 1st TGR Praxis Experimental Flat/Reverse Camber, Standard Sidecut Ski:
Call it ‘The TGR Special’ perhaps?
190cm length
Mount point: -7
142mm tip
124mm waist
129mm Tail
30m Turn radius
Flat underfoot
Gradual rocker to 9.5 height at tip, 3.5cm at tail
Front Rocker Height: 2.6cm
Tail Rocker Height: 1.5cm
Front rocker length: 47cm
Rear Rocker length: 40cm
Stiff 4.5 Flex underfoot, progresses to 4 at tails, 3.5 at tips
Enduro Layup + Veneer
Or
Enduro Layup + Carbon
Would love to see Enduro/Carbon/Veneer but starts to get expensive. I love how my Enduro/Veneer Skis handle. I can see this design benefiting from the pop of carbon though.

There proba ly wouldnt be shorter lengths but what are/where the numbers on a kusala? Anyone with rocker profile pics?

A praxis built EHP would be rad.

Not sure on dims. I believe 124 uf. 186 onlyAttachment 299426
Edit: wtf on fkn sideways pics yo?
Thanks , sideways is ok. 124 uf would be good and i think theyre pintailish , without knowing the tip and tail. From the pic it looks like the tail has a long rocker, longer than thd tip. I guess i was hoping itd be like a bit wider bg(pintailish with wider splay and rocker). 181-183 probably wouldnt be in the cards anyway. Still be fun to watch you guys bring them to fruition

It’s closer to a renegade but has more straight section in middle which creates larger sweet spot

Ahh i see. Good idea. I was guessing itd be a wider lhasa

A 190 length EHP in the 186 shape would be interesting
Sounds like we just need to buy six of one, half a dozen of the other

I don't have a complete list of specs, but for the 186 Kusala,
straight pull: 185cm
sidecut: 133.2-124-129.4 [mm]
radius: 30m
curb weight: 2150g

Can get more info, take more photos, etc. Let me know.
If we're gonna do a knockoff, we should get splat's blessing first, or ask him to run the show.
I’d personally like to see a fatter tip, longer, maybe semi pintailish type ski with flat camber/gradual rocker + long turn radius. Not too much of a point (to me) if dimensions are too similar to current protest and wootest. Though I’m sure whatever it’d be or a Kusala collab would be dope
I'd be in for this. my big pintails are almost ten years old and it's a shape i never want to be without. 150-117-123 , 45cm nose rocker with 7cm rise, shark nose. Trad camber throughout the rest with a true flat tail. When my current ones give up the ghost I'm going to need this in my life again immediately and no one is making anything like it anymore.
Sounds like the Lhasa pow fat (;
I’d definitely want the flat camber almost full rocker profile though. What makes a ski like this nimble

I’m pretty sold on the Kusala but if we were to adjust the tail I’d like to see something similar to the Lithic Skunkworks 122 tail but I have no idea how that would match up with Splat’s rocker profile or sidecut. Definitely agree with the stiffer flex all throughout the ski.
So I have a kusala and also a 186 Lhasa fat 150/120/130 with kusala full rocker. They are an all mtn pow slasher that is not quite as loose as kusala but have other advantages on groomers and windbuff. I believe they are one offs

It's close enough I'm sure I'd be happy with it. In fact I'm rather disappointed i didn't indebt myself and get in when Keith and Pat did the small run but it wasn't quite time and I'd rather see a few changes. The addition of tail rocker was unnecessary IMO and it could have been longer and even more pintailed. YMMV.
