Unless you can find a turbo that hasn't been obliterated by a bro or an old ej22.
Honestly, given what I know about the fugitive's hobbies, commute, and family situation, I would try to find an element in credible shape. Easy on maintenance, good to throw wet fishing gear in. The gas mileage sucks for a car that size with a 4 banger, but you probably don't care that much.
^^^^ the honda toaster is so underrated.
I was going to chime in on the Subaru idea as well. Unless you have the tools+ skills+space, that $4k subi is false economy.
3rd year of Toaster ownership here. Bought an 06 w 167k for a little under 8k. Maintenance in that time including repairs has been sub $500 (now at 184k). Have a 4'x5' bed in it with storage below. Camp in it a dozen times a year.
Going to send it in soon for some tlc at the dealer if I can't figure out a DIY tutorial. Love my Element & $/mile it's very inexpensive & comfortable.
Fwiw the engine is a de-tuned 1.6 with lower compression than the car variants. Shorthand for saying it's more reliable than their sedans, which are reliable already. It can even do 100mph downhill! Hoping to keep it for a long time. It's perfect for my dog, he has a bed in it full time :)
Bed in the back? An airbrushed wizard would really set it off.

Gotta admit I don't understand your Element reference here. I thought they had 2.4 liter 4 bangers?Quote:

although it should be silver
Buster, I read Audi is giving serious thought to bringing the RS6 Avant to North America. Talk about the car I have always wanted. That would inspire me to get off my lazy ass and work a bit. And ya, I want the blue one.

looks the same as the standard accord. a friend has an accord, i believe, with that engine. over 350k on it. does minimal to sub-minimal maintenance for the past decade, cheapest gas around, received a fair bit of under carriage damage from trips on bowman lake rd, etc., etc., you can hear it rattling down the street from a block away, still going strong for long commutes, trips for CA to ID, WY, and MT, hauls field dressed doe elk, and frequent trips quick up to donner pass.
I always knew my toddler was wicked smart, but now I've confirmed he has excellent taste as well. Every trip to Target he knows he can walk out with at least a couple matchbox cars and I of course always let him pick. To his credit he never picks any of those goofy cartoonish things some hot wheels have morphed into. This evening though I knew he was mine when he proudly picked this fast Eurowagon over everything else.
He must actually listen to me every now and then.
His new Polestar V60 :D

Nice
And he has great taste in color. Love that light blue, but ya, I am a blue car jong.
Best 99 cents I've spent in a long time.

^^^ Paging Phill, he loves saddle brown interior:
The only way that color is "saddle brown" is if it's a saddle which has just been used to ride down to 24hr Taco Bell drive through for a triple-double crunchwrap supreme and a sixer of PBR.
This is literally the color of the inside of your car

No bubble in the car market. Nope.
This looks pretty sweet! FKNA Buick makes something I find sexy. Sorry if this is a repost. Haven't been keeping up on every page of this thread since my 02 Outback is running better than ever at 206k...but rust is going to kill it someday in the not too distant future.

A station wagon with standard all-wheel drive, the Regal TourX is Buick’s stylish take on the trend started by the Subaru Outback. A one-choice-only turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder provides 252 hp and pairs with an eight-speed automatic. There’s up to 73.5 cu ft of cargo space behind the rear seat. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto come standard, and active safety features such as lane-departure warning and forward-collision warning are optional. The TourX goes on sale in late 2017.

Maybe one of you dentists can buy me the maroon one and sell it to me in a couple years for 15k? American depreciation + sweet wagon = dirtbag unicorn. I know it needs a stick but the only thing with a stick is the Alltrack and it is tiny.
That Opel/Buick made its appearance in another thread (oddly enough), but I'm really happy to see they're actually doing it now. I was convinced it was dead when GM sold Opel this year.
This is good news for wagon dorks everywhere.
Aauuugh, but it is a Buick :nonono2:
@4300 pounds the Buick probably rides nice and quiet.
My first car as a teenager was a '91 Buick Regal that previously belonged to my grandma. Maroon leather interior with fake wood paneling, maroon exterior, fake spoiler, the works. Weighed a bazillion fucking pounds and was a goddamn tank in the snow. Mass is your friend sometimes.

yeah yeah yeah :)
ha, my first car was a 1971 Pontiac Catalina Safari Wagon with a big block. One of the biggest heaviest cars ever made I have no doubt. Pretty sure it saved my life when I ran it into a pole carrying high-tension wires on Long Island. (I've written about that wreck before but I knocked out the power for 100,000 people the electric company reported.)
This is a '70 and mine was white but same deal.

That's why I'm having a hell of a hard time teaching my 14 year old stepson how to drive a stick. Dude has been stuck in the backseat his whole life while we dodge the safety police and frankly he doesn't care about driving so he hasn't been paying attention. Life is more about what is on his smartphone. I was driving my drunk dad home from the lake with a boat in tow at 14 no problem. Even backed it into the driveway, Ford Zephyr wagon with a 4 speed manual. Different but not better times.
That's awesome.
The day my Dad's soul died a little was the day he traded in his first Porsche for a Pontiac Safari Wagon when he found out that I was on the way and you couldn't legally fit him, my mom, future me, and a 50lb sled dog into the bright orange 914 he proudly bought himself after landing his first big job after college.
It was a very long time ago but I can still recall the sound it made as he sat down on the pleather bench seat behind the wheel that I was certain was a whoosh of air escaping the inner-tube-like construction. Only later in life did I come to find that it was actually him letting out a defeated sigh as he gave up a little more of his former self before turning over the ignition.
Like this: started life from the factory as butter yellow but for some reason was repainted doo-doo brown.

Happy to report he did wise up a few years later when he forced the sale of the Safari for a Volvo 760 Turbowagon for Mom and he started to refill the black hole in his heart in the form of another Krautmobile.
It's a different time and place to be sure. My Dad never thought twice about throwing me the keys when we lived in the sticks or out at the farm when I was 14. Used to drive concrete mixers at 15 all around the Bonney Lake, Puyallup, Auburn area. But that's a rough story, Brit, and I take it to heart.
