What’s this day of rest shit?

I shaved off my beard, no longer have the Jesus look. Can I still call myself a tele skier?

I may be smelly, but

Snowing in the east!
Never mind can’t get photos to work at the moment but telemark will be alive and well tomorrow!
It is still going strong.

It's dead for me because I'm still expertly tuning my rubber boot sole profile to fit these ancient Freerides. And i just ordered some alpine bindings. Will update you folks as the situation is still very fluid.
Seriously??? In a world of cobbled together free heel gear you panic at the first sign of an adaptation requirement and go to the dark side?!?!?!
Been going on a decade with t1’s and axls. With 30ish resort and 30ish bc days a season the combo strikes a fine balance of tourability, shredability, and the most important, affordability for this freeheeler. Of course ignorance truly is bliss.

Yup just hit Wolf Creek for 28" dump. My 3 companions on teles I was alpine gear. No waiting and mainly steep trees were on the menu.
Y’all saw that scott is discontinuing the synergy, aka garmont ener-g?
So beside old or used stock, that leaves the t-1 as the only 75mm big boot….
What’s the preferred screws for inserts for ntn? Just the standard style like what’s sold at slidewright with vibratite applied to the threads?
Scarpa is bailing on T1 so 75mm is on life support.
For AXL (So not the same but...) I read somewhere (sorry can't remember) to NOT put locktite on the screws with inserts.
I used standard stainless machine screws. I put a little grease so they wouldn't rust in place. The tighten again after a day or so of skiing. But they were still tight.

If anyone here can get down to Wolf Creek on the 1st-2nd of March and feels like sending it, they just opened the registration for this big mountain comp up to adults. It's been tricky getting enough numbers for these events in the past, and the more we get this year the more likely it is we can have these events in the future! Its also gonna be a rip roaring time..

This is no joke. I once used Blue loctite out of desperation and ruined a set of hammerhead base plates. Spider cracks all over and pretty much disintegrated the plastic. Fo realz.
Vibratite is great but it does dry up pretty quickly inside the larger bottle. I recommend grabbing the small volume Vibra tight tube packages. Open one when you need it.
I road pretty hard on my ener-g’s yesterday on hardback, chalk, corn, coral reef, and muck. The boots are in good condition still. I’ve had a few 100k vert ft on my tx comps since last in the 75mm boots. It was a very different experience than my tx comps and took a bit of adjustment. I look forward to getting my quiver fully transitioned.
"You don't know what you're missing!"
Exactly. I'm happy being an old curmudgeon. Four pairs of skis and two pairs of boots. Duckbills work fine for me. Plus, at my age I might not wear out all my gear and need to replace it. If somebody wants to loan me the gear to see if that changes my mind I'll reluctantly try it out.:fm:
Ha! Seriously! one of my recurring thoughts while riding the chair alone, “should I increase my side bevel on these freepiste skis (full camber mantras) to 3*?” It’s fucking February!
Made a broken binding joke to a freeheeler at the hill yesterday, got a positive chuckle. Asked if they might possibly have change for a nickel? Got a very serious "no, sorry."
Fwiw I have several NTN telemark rigs available in SLC for anyone who wants to try it out. Outlaw X, free ride or Lynx. Shell size 27.5 bring your own liners or boots.
The difference that NTN brings is profound and substantial, but not for everyone. Some folks like skiing on leathers and pins, as we’ve heard a bunch lately. [emoji3]
I'm excited about a shift to tech toe tele bindings. Just ordered some Meidjos but we'll see if they're enough binding for my big meat. What's lacking is a good pin-equipped ultralight boot to pair with the TTS, like the T4 which I think was discontinued. It would be a game changer for modern leathers-type stuff where edging is a struggle.
I used to not care about puny gear but I find myself more on the biathlon/Finnish hunter end of the spectrum these days than the 45° tree-lined chutes of my youth, mostly due to locale.
forgive the tech talk question; this is a good audience. My friend called today and was told that a shop wouldn't mount an Outlaw on a new DPS. He asked my opinion and I did rip a Freedom out of a Wailer a few years ago, the skis were beat, not the new construction, and it was the binding or my leg that was coming off on that one.
I heard similar about Black Crow from Outdoor Gear Exchange.
Any experience you can share is appreciated and will passed along.
Right, which NTN binding are we talking about? It's different screws for different bindings. For Outlaw, Axl, and Vice, you should use 10mm low head screws.
The blue Loctite melts the particular plastic that 22D uses, so don't use that stuff with 22D bindings. And, for that matter, IMO, it's overkill for inserts, so I wouldn't use it for any binding. Vibratite is way better for that. If you change or check your screws with some regularity, you could go with nothing.
Generally, I've seen that with light weight skis. In my experience, inserts are the way to go to minimize risk of pullout. Or, stop going to knee to ski (which can happen in bumps regardless).
I'm on NTN and loving them, but I never quite got this rationale. You spend your day with your knees going up and down, but bending over to snap on a heel and connect a leash is a hassle? But I'd agree that putting on skis with brakes on a steep angle is better.
