Mentioning ski whores, I just ordered some custom Kartel 108’s in a touring layup. Will be curious to see what the final weight is on those in 186cm.
Just curious, why Kartel over Wren? You already have the Wren 108 and seem to dig it in a broad range of conditions. Unless you're getting your jib on in the backcountry or know of some secret park that you have to skin to the Wren series seems like a more obvious choice for a touring ski.Quote:

Having ridden it on a demo, I would totally tour on the k108. Well balanced. Easy to ski slow or fast, great float for size...lots to like, even if it’s not a traditional touring shape.Quote:

One of you other ON3P whores should still order a 179 Wren 96 in a touring layup and let the rest of us know how much it weighs. I don't care about weight that much, but in a skinnier spring season/bigger mission ski it's difficult to ignore/not take into account. Trouble is, I REALLY like the mix of stable/damp/pop that ON3P builds into their skis and am having a difficult time imagining not having that ride quality for the sake of a couple hundred grams.

Got a couple days in on them now, a shitty dust on crust day at Mary Jane, and a decent corncrete on chunky crust day at Loveland. First impressions are: Holy fuck are these things stiff, damp, and fast. They're going to take some getting used to after skiing most of the season on Icelantics, for sure. May need to detune them a bit. Great at carving and pointing em down a hill and letting it rip. Find them a bit intimidating in trees or bumps, especially if the snow is shitty. Definitely hit my all time speed record on them today, pointed them straight down a ridge and let it rip. really can't believe how unshakeable they were, especially at 98/180. They're growing on me, not quite what I expected and not like any other skis I've ridden. really weird how they're so stable and damp but still have pop.
I think we have a couple of the same skis now. 186 K116 and BG189 w/o asym? I love my Kartels. They are detuned a few cm past the contact point on the tips. Haven't touched the tails. Kinda wish I had them in a 108 instead of 116 however.Quote:

Typically I would sell skis's if I wasn't going to be on them a lot. I didn't ski at all this winter. But the K108's stayed with me. I love that ski. Such a solid playfull DD for where I ski.Quote:

BGs will have a nice blend of quickness in trees and straight-line stability.
184 should still have plenty of backbone if you are under 180lbs.

At 210lbs myself, I could probably ski the 184s as a tree specific ski. I ski on 186 Kartels, and I would bet the 184 goats are just as stable. Don’t overthink, or get caught up in TGR’s long ski infatuation.
Sounds like you guys know the 184 will work. On3ps 184 is like other companies 187..
