^^^ I applaud your optimism
I caught a cold and bailed. Copilot was happy for the excuse, gonna aim for a late spring hood or Shasta trip if either of those ever see snow. Hope it turns around soon for yall

Got out for a few hours. Was not worth the FOMO. The snow coming down was just not enough to make much of a difference. Very hard pistes. Probably need 8"-10" minimum of medium density snow to cover up that very hard layer.
ETA: NWX was running, I cursed my decision to explore back there and hop on the chair but I did it and two chairs from the top the motor stopped. Fortunately only for about 4-5 minutes. Rider beware!
The NWX rebuilt motor shit the bed. Running on diesel, slowly, for the rest of the season
I hope they have Dopp installing a new lift soon. Fuck, it was 1996, it seems like that lift was new recently...
I was sad when they took out Blue and turned the Blue Lodge into a race center

Surprisingly good afternoon/evening on the local hill (Mt A). Apparently the morning crowd got an inch or two on top of icy crust, but it dusted all morning and by mid-day, everything was carved up and the snow was in good shape for turns. Snowed some more and then the skies cleared, winds were nonexistent, and the evening light was bouncing off the valley clouds. Pretty sweet scene. Sometimes you never know what you're going to get so go get it :)
I call it “the Oregon Jesus technique”. Arms out, jamming down the fall line.Attachment 485372
My favorite are still those trying to get the best reception for KVAL and other local news stations with those rabbit ear antennas coming out of the armpits, bent over while rotating the antenna this way and that.
Reminds me of intermittently having to rotate my bunny ears to get the best reception for reruns of the A Team and Knight Rider …
Like this?

This guy is at least pressuring his boot cuff a bit...
Today was firm but wide open fast riding. Off piste ranged from dangerous to amusingly dangerous
I’m going to try and rally up to Bachelor Butt in the AM. See if this storm produced any snow overnight.
Anybody go to MHM’s town hall on Sat afternoon? I don’t see a blog post on it…just wondering what was introduced
Did you see the agenda? I'm not sure how much of it was followed or some of the specifics. It would be a good blog post topic. Maybe they will give minutes now that the TH has happened.

It might be awhile with 23/24 looking like a poor cash flow season.
First one won't blow your doors off but makes a ton of sense from an infrastructure perspective. New lift from Sunrise to between bottom of Vista and top of Bcup.
Next one is further down the road (2027) and is going to be a love/hate kind of thing with people. New Heather chair with top Station above the Twilight entrance...memory is a bit fuzzy on exact top station location.
Also in the plans...Expanding Summer Hiking trails and aerial adventure course, Nordic infrastructure and building, lights for night skiing.
Where will the base of the heathers chair be? Same place or further uphill making more of heathers require using the runout?

Anyone know how the coverage in white river canyon is now? I have thur off and debating if I want to go touring or to MHM.

Coverage good but watch for touchy wind slabs. New snow falling on a crust/facet interface.
Multiple recent observations of shooting cracks and widely propagating + remotely triggered slabs.

Wondering where the start of that would go…somewhere above the waterfall/creek at the bottom of AbMag?
Basically serving Twilight thru Half Moon?
Thanks for the heads up.

Or, is it bottom terminal where Heather is now?
Running to Twilight [basically parallel to SSX but serving lower canyon exclusively and eliminating ho chi min (I noticed now called something else)
If I understand the plan correctly....old chair will come out, base of new chair will be in about the same location as base of old chair, top station will be high enough to give access to Twilight.
The rest isn't fact, just me writing down some thoughts. If you had the new base up canyon from the old one you would increase the risk of it being taken out by an avalanche. I'd think the top of the new chair should be high enough to allow access to Discovery allowing you to ski back to the base if you wanted.
It's Heather like the plant, no s.

interesting comments about capped visitation goals & 1st come/1st served mandate for public parking (ie never gonna do reservations)
heather goal = "replaced"
no sahale 2.0
Forest Service wasn't happy with Sahale pass 1.0
Unless Meadows can expand the skiable terrain, it will be the same old same old.
Today was acceptable... that 4 incher bonded and covered up the icy cruds real good. First runs down moon and half moon were tities. I'm guessing the upper Heather may pop tomorrow.
