Now that Tahoe will be getting some deep snow, I am going to drive to Washington next week. Mostly to see the grandkids in Cheney for a few days.
But I Will be taking a day at Silver. The one local mountain that I missed on my last road trip.
Either Thursday or Friday, 3/8 or 3/9.
Change sticker on my JJ’s tip and on the Sunrader’s ski box. Would love to run across a guide.

Let us know when you get closer, I'm up at Silver regularly
49*N was my own private ski area yesterday with super carvey cord and wind fill bumps, skied onto the lift all day.
Friday will be a shit show of epic proportions; 2-3 feet of untracked snow on toyota free day:explosive:the #1lot will be full by 8am the 1st chair line will be all the way to ch2 and the lift will be sloww to open as they struggle to dig out while under staffed. good luck finding a seat in or out of the lodge and no yurt to relieve some of the pressure:nonono2:
it'll be tracked out by 10
49n does seems like it can spread people around... I have yet to ride that one chair that goes to a peak on lookers right but traversed and hiked up to near the top before getting tired and the snow really wasn’t that good to make the hike worthwhile.
I think we are going to lookout but keeping the option open depending on the snow report and temperature for 49n. They are closed today and tomorrow aren’t they? Yeah Friday is gonna be good.

but how are the nachos at 49N?
large, as in 6"deep lunch tray
I never lined up for silver. Knowing it takes forever for Gondi to take you up to the top, what time do they let you load it? 8?

Do they drop rope in AM? If so, as long as you’re at the top by 9, you get the first track? Either way I’ll be headed to lookout in relaxing schedule.

No more rope drop at Silver, powder days & weekends best to be in line by 7:45 loading starts at 8:15 rest of the time meander in at 8:30 your are up before opening 90% of time chairs load at 9 sometimes we get lucky with an early start.

Better to spend your time and money driving to Lookout more wear & tear on your vehicle to ski boring terrain. Thanks for keeping Silver uncrowded
Loup loup is reporting 22+ inches. Hot damn!
The thing is, it’s free for me at lookout and there is an event I’m attending today and tomorrow. Otherwise, I agree with your opinion about the lookout. It’s flat and boring.
I just read an article about loup loup on powder

Lookout has the worst lifties in the world. Power tripping a-holes. They are still enforcing the leash on snowboard... do they even know what it is and how it works or don’t work at all??? Meanwhile I saw skiers walking down the hill carrying skis and poles. Isn’t that considered foot traffic?

Lookout is definitely a weird place honestly. I get that it is geared to be more family friendly but some of the people that ride and work their are definitely something else.
And why do you have a leash on a snowboard? I think a leash on skis make more sense. Although it could hurt really bad if you had leashes on a pair of skis that popped of while crashing at high speeds.
Make money. Buy toys.
I have no idea why the leash was required. Probably because they didn’t understand what snowboard was. They assume if a surfboard has one, snowboard need one as well?
It’s great that lookout hires local people to work but they don’t ski or snowboard and they sure don’t have common sense for anybody on skis or snowboards.

leftovers from yesterday skied smooth this AM @49N
new snow and wind loading filled the trenches
in open runs, not so much in the trees;
minimal grooming on most runs,
snow stayed soft into the PM,
massive crowds,
big race day .......
Awesome three days at Schweitzer. Friday was soft with areas of 8" or so of new in the morning. At 11:00 or so, it started dumping. In about three hours, we received another 6" officially but in the lee areas below the ridges, it was riding just about knee deep. Storm skiing is great in the afternoons as the less-seasoned riders tend to bail out (too cold, wet, windy, whatever...) and the same lines get refilled by the time you make a lap. It was untracked everywhere all afternoon until about 3:00 when I quit. Really a fun day!
Saturday is kind of a blur in the morning but the afternoon is crystal clear. We did two laps out of the Triple gate into the back country and they were the best back country laps I've ever taken out of there. We had sun and the snow was boiling up to the middle of my chest. It was light, blower with face shots and an easy hike out. Great day!
Sunday was about an inch of new over the soft groomers, just great, fast cruising. We only skied until lunch but it was an excellent morning with about 7 of us ripping. Fun weekend!
Ok. Thursday at Silver. Friday with the grandkids.
Black Kirkwood jacket. Beat up Armadas. A bit of a beard. Sunrader motorhome with two sweet puppies.
With a low of 31 tonight and tomorrow’s high of 36, I figure it to be wet.
I hate skiing on a schedule...
I'll be up at Silver on Thursday, telemark skier in black coat & pants rolling in at 8:30 to Gondi
Schweitzer Forecast.....Holy Shit!!

Looking like Friday is going to be good again. Last Friday was epic storm skiing and tomorrow looks to be a repeat. I love skiing around here in March!
Where is that from? NOAA has it at very little snow. Hot damn!
Never mind, they just updated, hot damn!
To top off my stoke, I tried some Dynastar Legend X106 last Friday and absolutely loved them. Ordered them Sunday night, they shipped Monday, arrived Wednesday, mounted and ready to ski by 3:00 today so, new sticks on a storm day. I'm totally jacked!! Thanks to Rossi/Dynastar and Spokane Alpine Haus for making this happen!
^ Awesome man! I skied them in not so good conditions at Mission a while ago and was really impressed. I may be adding them to the quiver for next year after I thin some others out. Interested to hear your thoughts on them in soft snow. Not looking for a pow ski as I have plenty of them. Just a daily driver.
One bad morning on his Viciks, and he's looking for a new ski. Sad.
Wrong
I actually bought them for pow after riding them last Friday in epic storm conditions. These are replacing my Rossi Super 7, vintage 2011 or so. I have the X88 for daily drivers, which also work pretty well in a foot or so of new. I skied the 106 in knee-deep last Friday and was very impressed. On the run-outs, which were soft crud (it snowed 6" in three hours during the day, so imagine) they seemed to hook up pretty well...not like the 88's which I really like on groomed but way better than my Supers do. I'll give these a workout this weekend and report back but my expectations are pretty high, based on the 88 and from skiing the 106 last week.
It was snowing quite well at Silver, the last 90 minutes was fun.
Have fun tomorrow.
You selling?
