Not me fortunately! That guy was standing at the top of hrm on one of the extra firm days prior to this storm cycle. Never got to see him ski them unfortunately. His channel is sickos on YouTube - bunch of young guys from HR that do goofy outdoors shit. Highly recommend the snow kayak videos!
So the binding plate looks suspicious, and you can make out LINE and Optic logos. I think this person took two pairs of production skis (what’s the longest Optic, 192?) and merged them together.
When I used to try to keep up with the Kirkwood rifraff, some of the more notorious mags started one upping each other with longer vintage skis for our annual Longboard Day. It started with race stock skis but then Tyrone Shoelaces found some Atomic Speed Skis in 2009 or 2010ish, and I distinctly remember those being 238cm. But then Skier666 one upped him by finding kneissl gelande skis that I remember measuring 253cm. No idea what he cranked the release value to when he threw alpine bindings on that thing. They were so big you could hear the wind when he made jump turns, like a rotor blade. I remember him saying his knees were happy when he went back to his Moments for the afternoon slush session. I was borrowing Sinecure’s 200cm race snowboard, that thing was also very ridiculous.
Just watched the sickos vid on youtube. Nothing original but the same ole jackassery stunts kids have been doing for years. Yeah I am old and that shit ain't funny anymore although I guess now they can actually make some money being foolishly entertaining as long as there is enough viewership, and looks like they actually have a large following. Hope that is enough to cover their insurance premium and broken equipment and whatnot or have rich parents on the side.
Matti!
Glad to see you chiming in once in a blue moon. Hope the NL is still treating you well? While towing my RV up icy slime this evening I meant to drop you a note thanking you for all the beta about the RV ski resort thing.
This is winter number 4 and we’ve got things pretty fairly dialed.

Was a nice surprise to find it snowing during the early up laps on Red as well.
That's awesome! Yeah, I haven't been around much because I have no stoke to share due to no skiing (long story, but not a bad one). And if I post too much without posting stoke, Tap will have to regulate.
Hoping to break the curse this season.

Nice creamy turns at Bachelor. Dense 3" of snow on the groomers. Snowing wet flakes most of the morning. Crowds weren't as bad as I was expecting. Managed to catch the Outback rope drop. Nothing really epic about the conditions today. Visibility had it's moments of rime and vertigo inducing moments higher up but overall, a decent Sunday on the local hill.
Horrible news of a double fatality in the Bend BC today. Happened in the Happy Valley area.
Vibes to the family.https://ktvz.com/news/accidents-cras...-west-of-bend/
Prelim incident report is up.

My thoughts to those affected.
Peace to the families
Vibes to all impacted.
I’m sad to hear just how deeply this hits Bend and the family of the Skjersaas. Hugs and vibes to everyone.

yeah, i'm back in town, and it's gonna rain this weekend ugh
Today featured sun for the first time in a week, some nice wind packed snow in the gullies, and what is known in technical skiing terminology as a Shitshow.
Every WA and Cali school kid descended on Mt Brokenchair this week for their Winter Break. Incredible lines everywhere.
People were lining up at Summit at 0915 - it opened at noon.
Once again, OBX and NWX were leaving every 4th chair empty to avoid a power outage.
In the line at PMX I saw 4 adults go into the pit in a 10 min span.
After 1000 the objective became dynamic gaper avoidance.

Not wait

That is all
The windstorm last night is now effecting lift ops. Bachy is on a, wait and see,1 hour hold. Tline and Meadows closed
What U talkin bout Willis? I ski MHM all the time and I’m painfully aware. No lines today… variable condition with pockets of 10” snow packed down to 2” layer, so much fun but started to get sticky around 11:30ish. Patrols were bombing upper elevator around 1 o'clock and maybe, just maybe they may open the upper mountain from the get go. Go early and go get some fellows
I quoted your post above mine, and bit posts and older post
Yup, by a factor of about two…Quote:
Was Thursday more crowded than Tuesday? You need to visit MHM on a Powder weekend to remind yourself how good you got it at Mt Brokenchair. As far as crowds
Remember, MHM was my home mountain from 1969 until 2011. I’ve been a part of the crowds there.
