You are really glorifying sitting in traffic on the interstate! I would assume that you'd still be able to flip the car into manual mode for driving off the grid. But I'm willing to give up the gas-brake-gas-brake hassle of sitting in traffic any time. Imagine, no more getting stuck behind left-lane-losers, no more road raging, no more stressful driving in a blizzard, etc. I think it would reduce everyone's stress and probably improve everyone's health.Quote:

***Just a spitball, but for i70 for example, all you need to do is have cars that communicate their position to each other and a LIDAR scan or driving lane location of the highway corridor that gets communicated to the vehicle when it enters a particularly difficult corridor. Automated Machine Control already does 90% this to within a few tenths/hundredths of a foot using very basic 3D information.
