Does Maxxis have a long term plan to replace EXO with the EXO+? It seems ridiculous to have both, considering the weight and price are very close between the two.

It seems identical EXO vs EXO+ 27.5 DHR2's are about 1/4lb different. I'd consider that a significant difference, but YMMV.Quote:

The Kryptotal Front Enduro is the only thing out of stock everywhere, but most retailers have "Available" dates in early to mid-September.
Why are the Conti fronts only available in 2.4?
I have a 29x2.6 rear enduro in the mail, but if I like it and decide to replace the front Assegai as well, I'm not sure a 2.4 will work great with my 35mm rims.
And the rear is coming from jensonusa who price-matched Amazon but offered faster shipping (despite having Prime...)
I bet that Krypt rear 2.6 would work fine as a front, and be pretty dang fast!
Seems like the Conti Xynotal has the best hope of being a Dissector replacement for me for a rear in midsummer dry, fast, not too loose conditions? But hopefully way more durable! The tread looks very similar in pattern and block height … I’ll have to order one up some point soon!

Lots of chatter on this thread in favor of Forekaster and Syerra too. I have no firsthand experiences or other comments, but the Dissector probably seems overkill for an XC race. I imagine loose, loose over hard, or hard soil will sway your optimal choice, as will what you plan to do with the tires after the race (keep them on full time?).
yes, I plan to keep running them. I'm just doing the race to do it, no goal or hope to finish well, just want to enjoy a full day pedaling my bike around, but I need new tires so may as well get something faster rolling "for the race". Definitely don't need to dump a lot of money in race-specific tires but dissectors seem like overkill, as you mentioned, and need to be replaced.
guess I'm looking for more of a fast trail tire...... ride in Utah and Colorado for the most part.
I've been pleasantly surprised with the stock Rekon that came on the rear with my Genius. I figured I'd switch it out first thing for my usual go-to dual DHF set up, but I've actually liked the performance in the both loose & hardpack riding both trails and bike park laps at Powder Mt. As one would expect, noticeably faster as well.
If I were in your boat I would probably just replace the rear with a Rekon and call it good.Quote:

took this advice. Front dissector is in good enough shape and it will save a little money just getting one tire (just a little since maxxis tires are so expensive to the rest of the market). will report back after I win the race lolQuote:

Reasonably durable and have decent grip (I had one small puncture that sealed). Pretty good.
Drank the kool-aid and got Kryptotal Fr and R, dh super soft. On my ls wrecker. Replaced DHF/DHR exo.
Really digging them. Corner nice, tons of grip. Riding faster and cornering harder than ever, though some of that is the bike too.
Running a bit lower pressure (mid-20) and that’s been great… and then I cracked a loophole, last run of the day so whatever… kinda ruined that run though. We’ll see how Evil’s warranty response is. I guess I’ll focus on my house projects in the meantime.
