Depending on when and where, I'd hop in the 80 and drive somewhere. If we wanted to do lockers, lift, and 35 minimum, I've got some ideas in ID. If you want to include stockers, I know some places too. They would be in central ID. North and west of there, I'm not much help.
Not an 80 but damn if this doesn't tick all the boxes https://bringatrailer.com/listing/1979-toyota-hj45-3/
Also down for a LC maggot meetup... hope it happens.
My intent would be stock friendly (maybe you want M/T or aggressive A/T vs. Highway tires) but rugged. Drive up to an alpine zone and camp.
Conundrum - what are your thoughts on something around central Idaho?
Is there anything we can get up to a lake or a cool ridgeline and then over a pass or something in to another valley in Central Idaho? Let's say stock rig passable but maybe a bit adventurous. So not just FS road travel but maybe secondary FS roads that are a little on the rough side or what not. Objective would be some camping, exploration, maybe a bit of fly fishing?
Mcgruder Corridor is something I've read about, is that interesting or just a dusty drive through the woods?
If you have a good spot that you don't want to post publicly, let's discuss via email or PM. Was thinking mid - late July as a date range.
Sounds ideal to me. Maybe plan on one of the 3 day weekends so it could easily extend to a 4day trip.
Mcgruder is cool for the remoteness but would probably be 4-6 days depending on where people are traveling from. There’s a couple spur roads that are a little more burley but it’s mostly gravel. I’ve got some other ideas too. For everyone interested, PM me an email address and I can get some conversation starters out there.
There’s one spot Rev and I have been talking about too that isn’t really known well that would be sweet and a stock 80 with AT tires could go.
Sent ya a pm. Ill do some searching and see what I find. Where are most coming from? I'm up in Seattle
I made a thread.
Let's get our LC out there. All series welcome. (but maybe not Mseries jongs?)

I did spend a week in a 76 and it was cool but I wouldn't trade my 80 for one. If I had more parking, I would buy one for the novelty of it.
Iceland or Norway?

Iceland. Super bitchin' place. Wear your rain gear and get off the beaten path.

What bumper is that? Digging the height of the bike rack
You can always put an extension on your trailer hitch.
Dissent rear bumper with dual swing outs. Rack is mounted on the passenger side swing out. So nice not having the bike and rack in the way while at camp cooking dinner and getting in and out of the back.
It’s a 1up rack.
Damn nice setup. Pretty similar to what I'm wanting to do on a 4runner but no dual swings. 1up keeps them nice and high for departure angle. I'm more sketched about my bike 4wheeling than the rig.
Thanks for the info. I met Ben at dissent at his place. He was really nice and was willing to help me out (a local) with my front bumper problem, which was a nice offer. His stuff is beautiful and looks really well made.
Sweet hundy
4wd is definitely not needed on the Magruder Corridor. I used to work as a hunting guide back there on the Selway River. The outfitter I worked for had operations in Darby MT and Grangeville ID. So I have driven it at least 50+ times. Most of those trips in a Ford Fiesta with 13 inch tires. Other times in a 1-ton Ford with a huge 8-horse trailer. It is very remote, and very cool to drive, but it is not a big deal.
Note: my time back there was in the 1980's, and there were still a lot of active logging operations. Now that the logging is gone, maybe the road is not maintained as well as it was.
Still just a gravel road.
Yeah sick rig.

Dfinn has a super sweet looking ride. Jelly for sure
I know it’s an 80s thread but finally got my 40 road worthy and the top off. Yeah, first pic was a gas station. Epic.
Oh pretty little girl. Prepare for abuse young child.
