Thanks to all of Monday's avy reporters. It looks like 10-11 a.m. was the witching hour.
Yea Gimpy pretty good snow in the middle, we debated waiting just up the middle till you guys dropped to get the main one, then I said fuck it I'm going up the middle. Kinda thought you were the one leading the boot pack up based on your pack and having seen your truck in the parking area.

Debated sharing this here or not, but figured if it scares someone to be a little more cautious out there why not.

now that you've seen the vid go back and get your pole.
Interesting to see the fracture / trigger point right below the exposed rock. Glad you're all right.
on the way out of town i saw some crazy debris/tracks coming out of the woods on the se face of echo. did you guys see that? looked like an entire jeffery pine rolled down the face. it would have been on the other side of the rocky ridge way off to the skiers right in the bottom pic.
Ahhhh the old find yer car from echo game. The trick is to head towards trimmer/freel and then looks for the snow covered hump off Wintoon.
Stoked there were no injuries yesterday+++
Squaw has still been pretty good lately! I'm really starting to believe that they might be open on the 4th of July.

I saw their tracks in the Angora basin today. Guessing they had something to do with that debris. On a more positive note, we're full-on back into corn mode!
Thx for posting tahoebc. glad you're OK. Looks like you hit the sweet spot (trigger) right by the left rock.
I was out with BCR (remember him :)). We had lots of sluff running but stable snow on north facing on Sunday.

I should contribute more but haven't been out much lately, but what a great season! We're all glad TahoeBC is ok because he keeps the stoke alive! Here's a photo of him shredding on Tallac earlier this season.

Asking people who come to South Lake for a bit of help getting signatures on this petition for S. Lake Tahoe to commit to 100% renewable energy by 2030. Cities like Salt Lake (!?!) and Park City have already committed. Trying to kick start it for other Sierra towns. If you can sign here and share widely - we present to the City Council in less than a week!

Thanks in advance!
Me, too--and thanks tbc for posting the video.
And if the visibility is bad and usual landmarks invisible, the Wintoon hump was the site of a water tank once upon a time--it's on a very modest height of land, running roughly east/west between two creek drainages. Head roughly east from the base of Echo and, if you start to descend noticeably to the north or south you are probably off route and should correct your course.Quote:

I don't think so, but we have no base line for crazy here, so kind of hard to say . There were a bunch of snowmobile tracks everywhere, which in itself is weird for us. Not sure something out of the ordinary would have registered. Did not see anyone riding, just the tracks. Good to hear finding the way back to Wintoon drive is not exclusively a tourist problem!
here's some more on monday's hijinks on round top (more pics, words and video on powdork.com)
i had quite a few more pics to post here but the overlords have changed things so that i can't link to images on my site so here's but a few
