Screw the west. The crowds are moving west---the powder is moving east. Come to Lononderry, VT and experience run after run of faceshots on some of the east coast's least crowded slopes. And on those days where mother nature is being a little bitch, some of the best snowmaking in the world will step up to slap her in the face like Will Smith at the Oscars.

I dunno, I grew up spending half the year at a little ski lake in the Midwest that pumped out a bunch of regional and national champs over the years. The place really embodied the water ski vibe and I guess you could say it’s a weird culture, but so are most cultures that are built around recreational activities. No stranger or that much different than snow skiers IMO, much like the race scene in the mountains.

I skied Boone this fall on my Indypass with my daughter. It wasn't bottomless untracked pow but it was better than nothing and even faces away from the sun.

Lots of Trump stickers in the parking lot provided the anti-stoke, but that is also a tell-tale sign of cheap housing nearby.

Is there anywhere on earth you can enjoy tropical beach weather and drive a few hours to lift served “good” skiing?

There was a day in 2009 when I skied powder in the morning at Alpental and then flew to Hawaii and swam in the ocean (daytime). Pretty amazing day other than the 5hr flight.

Maybe Southern France? There's also some decent skiing in the Appenines in Italy, but not sure if the season is long enough to typically coincide with good beach weather. Andorra is fairly close to the Mediterranean, too.

It's a little over 3 hours from the Italian riviera to Chamonix (and any number of other lifts in the alps). That's probably a decent bet, although your pleasant beach weather probably isn't going to overlap with much pow.

That's what I was going to suggest. Pescara for tropical weather, ski area about an hour away...

maybe not pow but If the weather lines up you could spring ski grouse/ cypress/ seymour in the AM and hit the beach in Vancover for the afternoon

I wouldn't have even known about the skiing there except I work with a guy who's from Naples and he told me "everyone talks about the Dolomites, but there's some pretty good skiing in Southern Italy, too."
