I didn’t look at the odometers. Realistically, they were previous season bikes.
Last year it was Giant. One day a battery didn’t charge overnight. Another day the whole thing just stopped working.
This year it was Cube. One had something loose janky around the motor that created a horrible knocking on any rough terrain. I also had to wrap the whole down tube in Velcro because the battery covers were constantly loose. Then one bike would intermittently shut off. Eventually we were stranded half way around a big loop in the Dolomites, two closed lifts away from the finish and/or several thousand feet of climbing from the hotel with the sun going down. Called the hotel, the hotel called a taxi, the taxi brought us in for 100€, and about a 45min drive.
Rented an Orbea Rise light Ebike one day toward the end. Light e-bikes are stupid. It’s like saying, I want a bike that’s heavier than my analog bike, but not super heavy, and I want almost none of the benefit of a motor. Super nice bike. Just a stupid concept.
For next year, we’re thinking about buying Specialized batteries through a shop in Italy and bringing our Levos with batteries pulled out. Our friends could keep the batteries at their place. Not sure if it’s really that detrimental to have a battery sit idle for 12mo at a time. Not sure if there’s any risk of airline rejection of a battery-less Ebike.
