but admittingly you are right, it's not attractive. if you live anywhere near there it is worth driving to corpus Christi just for the cleaner beaches and actual blue water.
I still loved going to Galveston time to time when I lived in Houston though.
There something about driving into that island gave me the feel of getting away without traveling too far.

When I interviewed at BCM for grad school many years ago, they bused us to Galveston to check out the Marti Gras celebration there. I went for a long walk around town and was amazed by curbs that were, like, two feet high.Quote:
