BCrider, where was this taken?

Agreed. Yesterday's Squaw dump was already firming up by run 3, and I was waiting in the KT corral when they dropped the rope... Not a surprise that the cement has cured fully. I ain't complaining.
Hey does any mag know of a, like, higher-altitude place in the Tahoe area? I'll bet a factor like that would make all the difference...
I think Trimmer peak, especially thte upper half, holds some of the coldest powder. Gimpy and Sierra Cement, do you agree?
Found a pic of Zippy on my cam from 2/24. Since this thread isn't quite long enough...here it is.

Yes Boss. Thank you, Boss. Yes, that day was very nice, Boss. Actually, the whole week was very nice. :D
Best weather forcast ever, as given by a Caltrans plow driver at the Carson Pass gate 2/26/07: "If I were you I'd get the hell off this mountain! Now!"
Avy action on The Sisters, Melissa Coray, and Meiss. Guestimate only on when these ran, photos on 3/2.

Mend up quick all you injured folks.
As long as we are covering old business on Tahoe firing, Get a load of what they did to Thimble Peak above the Sunrise Lift at Kirkwood. Huge crown and ripped to the ground.

Hey Cirque, what day was that? Haven't gotten back there since mid storm last weekend...
I am almost positive that they bombed thimble and caused that slide on '99 steps' on Tuesday of last week.
Biggest crown I have ever seen. Had to be 10ft+ on Wednsday when I rode chair 4. Slide debris all the way down to the flats under chair 4.
well it looks like winter came in for a quickie and left the second he was finished. weather report predicts a high of 60 degrees next weekend...
I have a few more pics to add to this thread... These are all from Alpine Meadows on 3.1...
Nice work, ISP21.
Thread title edit...
Tahoe Temps Firing!!!!
No kidding 6'er. 64 degrees on Sunday! 65 on Monday:( .
Gimpy and I were an hour early for the quality corn run this AM on Red Lake. Since we had job duties we couldn't chill in the sun and wait for the thaw. So instead we did 2,500' of firm snow foot massage, joint loosening, filling shaking skiing. I should have brought ear plugs!
Definitely freeze thaw up to 10,000'.
we were skiing at 8 am and even w/ a clear sunny sky it was just barely edgeable. weird cause its usually fine by then, but i think 9:30-10 would have been ideal today. methinks that the little bit of precip/rain we got yesterday caused the pack to really freeze hard last night. on teus i skied a lesser known corn run on tallac and it was pretty good by 8 but the pack wasn't nearly as consolidated as red lakes.
and yeah lph, we were skiing the east face of red lake but not the gully itself.
some more pics related to the above...
Another pic of that Crown off of 99k steps/ Thimble Peak

Thank gawd we never have to worry about that dangerous 'snow' stuff again this winter.
Just flew up with Shugs from San Jose. The temp gauge was reading 32 F at 11, 500 feet. OUCH! The cloud cover made everything look depressing, took some RAW recon shots of Kit Carson/Iron Mountain, etc.
tahoe firing

I'm firing tahoe.
It's just not working out.

are you flying in a cessna or a private jet? you look pretty close to the windscreen.
Definitely not a Gulfstream V. :) Looks like a Cessna.
Just got back in last night after 5 days in squaw. Fantastic trip......Hit every peak and hiked Granite Chief and the Palisades <s>.
tahoe people...you win.
Who needs a 747 when you're rolling on 6's on a Cessna 182 TURBO!
Tahoe firing blanks...
Got some nice powder today on Dick's / Kalmia Ridge. Of course I also skied Mank , Breakable crust , and good corn.
Tahoe's firing off fields of corn. Skied 2500' of it off the back of Round Top with gimpy. Had to ski the Crescent on our way back to the car since it was on the way. It was mostly chalky.
Reporting from hicamp :
clear and a balmy 40.
