Cmon now. 60 vacuum hoses changed everything.

Wow. Peeked into my local station today, and they had a Land Cruiser up on the lift getting an entirely new rear end on it. Like everything hanging down was new parts, all shiny. I asked how much, and the mechanic estimated 7 grand for the work, on a 220000 mile car. Somebody loves their Land Cruiser.
Air suspension went on my GX the other day. Thinking about cashing in on BAT by adding an OME lift and maybe an ARB front bumper. Expo rigged cruisers of any form seem to actually get mod money back.
Have you seen what pretty much any car goes for on BAT?
A good detail and my rig looks brand new. I do agree though that for the 80's and older cruisers, you are only going to see that money on pristine versions. The GX seems to be in that sweet spot where those residual values are extending to that model, which isn't old enough to have rusted out or really rack up the mileage yet.
I'm shooting for 14k on my 04 GX with 126k miles. I think I'll get it with the suspension addition.
Oh absolutely. I watch it pretty closely. For a lot a 30k cruiser as a toy is no biggie and they don't have to deal with some beat up wheeler some guy thinks is worth 15k.
I have the daily internal debate to start modding my 96 locked 80 series with 90k on it or sell it on BAT for $$$$$$$ and buy one that I won't feel so bad wheeling.

90k on a 3x locked 80 will fetch good money. I'd throw no money in mods on that unless you want to keep it for a long time. The only scratch that hurts is the first one.
There's the conundrum. Heh.
100% stock it's worth more.
I have no intention of ever selling it though so I should shut up and drive it.
Adiron, good luck on BAT. Usually goes well but have heard some crazy stories about winning bid not paying, BAT not doing anything about it, and then they don't let you relist the car.

May as well go 3” so you can clear 35s.
And 37s when you decide to remove the fenders.

I like where your heads at.
Also Toyota related(although 4runner) I somehow managed to pick up a 1st gen 4runner with long travel and 35s so the wife doesn't have to wheel the 4th gen too hard. Both are locked and geared etc. Now the stable is at 05 runner, 89 runner, 00 tundra, and 71 bronco. I still really want. a triple locked cruiser, I may have a problem...

I agree. Also I noticed no less than 5 cruisers at the mountain today that I would've loved to have.
And then you don't need the locked version, because when you regear, you can add whatever locker you want. Lunch box lockers work great in the rear of an 80, even around town thanks to being 4wd all the time.

Dropped the Cruiser off at Torfab for some upgrades yesterday.
Leave your penis out of this discussion, please.
Was at snowbash in kalispell last weekend and ran into a diesel 80 on 37s, he was stuck and one of our group winched him out. It was pretty sweet but gotta imagine a but heavy(didn't get a good look) Gotta say the yotas far outnumbered other brands with over 100 vehicles in attendence.
Can't wait to see some pics LVS.
My 100 series purchase epic continues. I’ve missed out on several but think I’ve got the one, finally - 05 with 150k, no rust, stock condition. Timing belt and water pump replaced, new fluids. Other than suspension service (no AHC), electrical condition, brakes/rotors/tire age and mileage, what else do I ask about? Probably won’t do an inspection so taking on some repair risk, but OK given price.
Isn't there a check list that you can find that, as potential buyer, you can easily go through when test driving? this is only based on my own experience. do they have service records? were they following maintenance intervals. when was the timing belt/pump replaced? toyo recommendation is 90k, but many go much longer. did any previous owner replace the pot metal piece that breaks in the ignition cylinder? were spark plugs replaced? i don't know how to test the ATRAC, but is the center diff functional? what's the condition of the steering rack? if there are good maintenance records, you can either tell if the rack was serviced (expensive) or the level/extent of leakage. none of the above are deal killers, but good to know about when plotting any maintenance catch-up or coming costs.
Agree. But on mud everyone has a different opinion. And not a whole lot of guys like me asking about stock Cruisers.
Thorough checklist here:

Have that one, thanks.
There is more knowledge on mud than probably any other car forum I've been a part of. Read threads until you can make your own conclusions based on the info.
There are some more established members, similar to here, who's opinions I'd trust over 99% of the rest of the members.
I built a 1fz just flipping through threads for tips/info and an FSM. It's there.

Not at all discounting mud. It’s an incredible resource that I spend way too much time reading.
I also studied Mud threads for a week before I pulled the trigger on my current LX470. You'll leave that forum knowing more than the mechanic you'd take it to for inspection.
PM me a link to the listing and I'll give you my thoughts, I'm well studied in the 100 Series addiction.
No link - buying offline - but will post an update on Sunday when I spend more time with the truck. It’s been a mom-of-3 kid hauler for the last 6 years with maintenance records in 5k increments. Before that (<65k miles) less detail, CarFax only.
Make sure the steering wheel is trashed. That's how you know it was driven by a married mom. Ring trashes the leather rim.
