I just push up it now to ride it. It really is the best way to get to what you're after in life.
I don't think there's anywhere to build another route up but a human catapult that just chucks you up there could be good. Could also charge for bumps across the river so you don't have to drive into town to get 200ft away.
Yeah, but we all know Andrew can't ride for shit so what's your point? :fm:
In truth, my friends who are by far the best riders are the ones who really love the single-track up... so while I can almost keep up with them on the downhill these days I suspect I still have something to learn.
Add me to that list.
That said, if there is a single track option (especially if it's in the shade on a hot day) I'm all in.
In our immediate area most of the stuff I ride is not accessible via singletrack, and riding up those trails is not an option (pretty steep and tech in a lot of places).
Won't argue on the pushing option. As to an up route, I was thinking of something that loosely follows Poison Spider. Hence the "Hymasa-style" comment. Seems like a bike trail should be doable if there's room for a jeep trail. Would be extra awesome if it could link to Blue Dot, too.
Seems like you could mark out a route that just sticks to rock and keeps you out of the sand. Maybe go out there one day armed with google overhead views and a gps and hand over a route to whatever moab's advocacy group is. They're obviously very pro expansion these days. On second thought, get someone with a moto to do it. I'd be pretty surprised if that wasn't something they've discussed/planned anyway. It's very energy zapping but the scenery up there is neat. Probably worth doing. In the meantime, I'll keep pushing up. Two laps is better than one anyway.
Inside every biker there's a hiker. Nothing wrong with hiking it.

Catastrophic failure of DIY Coke Bottle Air Compressor. Feeling lucky I still have eyesight intact. Sitting in quiet room now, waiting for ears to stop ringing.
The Fuck?

20" tube and you can set the bead with a trail pump. I landed a jump off camber and my tire came off. I wiped the pines/mud and I was able to pump it.
Yup. You know, contain the blast!
100psi, per recommendation of teh interwebz.
Gonna get the Schwalbe Tire Booster I think. No more high pressure DIY.
Wow, no kidding, that's amazing! I guess it's lucky they told you to contain the shrapnel with that stretchy stuff.
Sweet lesson in composites to be had there, though. Might have to save that pic.
Dude, seriously. That’s Darwin Award material.

Thanks for the warm sentiment.
Just google tubeless inflator or Coke Bottle Air Compressor. I’m not the first dumbass to try this. Perhaps just the first one to admit it to his internet friends.

I’m so pleased to be able to deliver the entertainments with this. Maybe should have started a new thread for it! FKNA!!!
Back story, just moved cross country and got rid of a lot of heavy bulky shit, including my old Air Compressor. Stumbled across this ghetto shit when looking at the Air Shot and assorted charger/booster floor pumps. Figured it was worth a try. Lesson learned.
Ft Collins. Pretty stoked on the "back yard" trails here.
Here ya go old school no noodles. There's at least another 15 miles between these two zones that are just across the street from each other. Todays ride.Attachment 215912
why didnt you just go to the bike shop and use their air compressor?
Would love to hook up and ride some Nor CO trails. Can't help but worry that my slow ass would be a drag on the climbs though.
Have you been out to Croiser Mtn Yet? Found a "secret" trail up there that's pretty nice. We've barely tapped into anything beyond FtC, but had fun up there when it was still warm.
Nope, haven't ridden Crosier yet... it's kind of a haul for me, but it looks like there could be a decent amount of trail up there.
Yeesh, glad you're alright! I made one years ago, never pushed it past 40psi. The thing always terrified me. Got a topeak booster floor pump, much less terrifying now.
