Except all it takes to right a wrong in gear swap is money.

Once someone's intimate pictures are on the internet, it's there forever and could pop up at any time and cause serious problems.

Women have lost their jobs, their kids, been publicly shamed and lost new relationships because of photos posted of them online without their consent. Maybe it hasn’t happened here yet, but the risk is there. Again, it’s a risk mitigation scenario. And there is little to no community benefit from those posts.

Like someone posted above, the Ullr thread started out with change for a nickel stickers on some cleavage. It would be reasonable to assume that those have consent to be posted if the poster says so. But later in the thread you get guys posting photos of a woman getting dressed across the room with a wink wink nudge nudge when someone asks if the woman knew. That shit is clearly over the line and should be removed unless they can show proof there was consent.

The potential harm to someone whose naked picture gets posted may be greater, but it's an attenuated potential. The harm to the poster that got scammed is far more concrete (and it's likely not buying an item that was stolen, it's buying an item that the seller doesn't have or doesn't send). Real $$$ lost, and "maggot justice" is fun to say but not very powerful. There was the incident with the camera that was awesome, but Jesse Jones still got away with his theft; how many other examples of justice were there? And before some of the SJWs here say I'm equating a few dollars with someone's life or reputation, I'll say that sure, I can imagine consequences befalling someone that are horrific if her photo got posted here without consent. But it's very attenuated, the consequences are all hypothetical even if in this scenario the crime is real, whereas the consequences if someone gets scammed in gear swap are real and not hypothetical. And in both cases, we're still talking about someone on this board that violates rules and violates trust, and on one side you have people saying we must assume that everyone is doing this because some people surely will, and on the other side you have people saying we should assume that they are not doing this until proven otherwise.

Regardless, as I've said before, there really is no way to police consent, whether it is "porn" or personal photos in the Ullr thread. You either take people at their word or you don't allow naked pictures, everything else is unenforceable.

I’m honestly am trying to be reasonable here and suggest things that I think are workable. It’s everyone on the other side who seems to be saying “fuck it let’s just ban porn then.”

I did notice that there used to be fair number of women here, the past 4 years There are not.

I don't think it's about pictures, It's about the people here and how they interact with others.

What was once portrayed by a brush and canvas and then later by photography and film has evolved. The famous painting by Titian, "The Rape of Europa" (now in the Gardener Museum in Boston) was painted circa 1550.
