It depends on the course and whether or not you have a cart. But typically mid to high 70's and no need to concede short putts. I'm talking playing solo or with one other person. It would be tough for any foursome to get around that quickly. Anyway, speed of play would be the top perk of a private club. Those 5+ hour rounds make me never want to play again and I almost never play on weekend mornings because of it.

Have fun! When I was in high school a good friend of mine had a family membership so I got to play there once or twice a month. Such a nice course.

I walk Schaffer's in about 2:30-2:45. Can't play 4 hour rounds anymore...

Last week, DaKing who runs my OTS league sent out a threesome, then DaKing in our foursome in front of a threesome. DaKing tried to push us to keep up with the threesome ahead after the group behind hit into us (actually, hit at DaKing). My partners 60 for nine got in the way and I wasn't going to rush my 44......Just to bust his balls.

Best place to let a group through is on a par 3. If you know how.

On that note, I hate the "wave up" where people are standing by the green. It's distracting as hell, you often rush your shot, and they've done studies that show it's inefficient. What you / they should do: Hit your balls off the tee, then wait for the next group to hit and let them play through. Then go finish. This rarely happens, naturally. Not to mention you can do this on any hole and it works just the same (actually easier on par 4's / 5's since no balls will be in the way most likely).

soooooooooooooooooo you choke in front of a crowd?

It's better than 50/50 it rains double bogeys no matter you spectate from, tee or greenside. I prefer to hit, mark and wave the group up. I'll duck behind a tree if I can although statistically standing over the hole is probably the safest spot.

No, I played competitively through college so groups of people watching doesn't bug me at all. I just hate feeling rushed (probably irrational on my part), or when they're waving you up while standing about 5 feet from the edge of the green (really?).

Just played three rounds at Arizona Country Club. Pace was fast as shit. Almost too fast. Any faster than 3.5 hours and it's too fast for me. I'm still trying to learn shit and improve though..... Speaking of playing for a crowd, I crushed my second shot on the par 5 18th past the green and into a wedding party. Had to drop in front of 50 people dressed up holding champagne after I just sent my ball bouncing around the patio. Chipped it past the hole a good 40 feet but was psyched i didn't chunk the shit out of it.

Those are "The Shot"s to remember.

I once had a shot 5 paces to the left of a tee box onto a green 10 paces further on the other side of some 20' trees. I full swung a laid open sand wedge and hit the green. The two groups on th tee gave me a polite golf clap.

Golf is fun in Colorado. 18+ inches of snow in the mountains, golf put on hold for the last couple days.

Played Pradera, Indian Peaks, Fort Collins CC, Fossil trace and a few more. Good times.

^^^How were the greens at Indian Peaks? Let's get out again soon. Almost ready to fully switch over to golf.

I actually liked it, at the time. When people are watching you tend to be more committed to your shot. Granted, these were very, very small galleries and I'm sure a real crowd is an entirely different experience. On the other hand, at least off the tee you're less likely to lose your ball with other people around.

i still get nervous with other people around. i did better last year, but it's still an uncomfortable and anxious feeling. i just try to relax, visualize where i'm aiming for and take a slow, relaxed swing. whatever it takes to get it in play.

Rotate your torso and keep your head down. Those are the best two thoughts to have in mind when you're nervous. Even a lot of tour pros use that, or so I've read. Works for me. Also good thoughts to keep in mind if you're rusty and haven't played in a while.

Hell yes. Two more ski trips this weekend and next, but then I'll probably hang em up and fully switch over to golf and lawn care season. I'll hit you up.

i'm thinking about heading up to mt. hood and riding until it's too sloppy and then hitting a course on my way down. that would be pretty luxurious for me, though i'd probably have to rent a cart.
